A vintage modern mudroom decorated with simple neutral Christmas decor!  It's time to start Christmas decorating! 2021 Gift Guide: Gift Ideas For Him

Perfect gift ideas for all the men in your life!  I don't know about you, but every year I find it harder and harder to shop for the men in my life.  It seems like they already have everything they want and there's nothing they really need.  This can make picking out thoughtful gifts a little tricky.  This year, I thought about what I personally own, what I've given as gifts and what gifts we've received that others may also enjoy.   I included items from various price points and tried to pick items that represent many different hobbies and interests. ...

The Best Realistic Winter Greenery

Deck the halls this holiday season with the best realistic garlands, picks, trees and wreaths!  Yes, it's that time of year again.  It's officially November, which means if you haven't already bought the new holiday decor you've been eyeing then you should definitely think about purchasing it sooner rather than later.  Holiday decor tends to sell out early, especially this year, so it's more important than ever to shop early. Store shelves are already sparse, quantities are very limited and if you want first dibs on new inventory then you better shop early. I already ordered more winter greenery and wanted to share my favorite winter garlands, picks, trees and wreaths in case you wanted to snag a few for yourself too! ...

Let's Go Shopping: Walmart Gifts For The Home

Affordable and stylish Walmart gifts for your home! This post is sponsored by Walmart   I've never been a girly girl. I grew up with an older brother and a neighborhood full of boys.  I played sports, rode bikes and wasn't afraid of getting dirty.   Fashion was never a top priority for me (hello, leggings and hoodies!) and I've always preferred to buy things for my home than for myself.  My home is where I spend most of my time and I want it to be a place I love and enjoy. So when it comes to holiday gifts, I often request and would prefer to receive something for my home than a new sweater or pair of earrings.  ...

Lucketts Fall Market 2021

Take a tour of a vintage booth from the hippest vintage market on the East Coast!   It's been a long weekend!  I take that back, it's been a long few weeks.  If you've been around for any length of time then you have probably heard me talk about prepping for the Lucketts market.   Most of the furniture pieces I transform and vintage items I score head to my vintage booth at Sweet Clover Barn , but some of my favorites were saved for the Lucketts market....

Trash to Treasure: DIY Textured Paint and Baking Soda Vase

Create the look of authentic clay vases using paint, baking soda and coarse salt!  Yesterday, while out thrifting, I picked up a ceramic vase that had the perfect shape for a quick DIY update. In the past, I've made plastic vases look like concrete  and Dollar Tree vases look like Hobnail milk glass , but this vase instantly reminded me of the beautiful and popular, yet crazy expensive vintage clay pottery vases.  Turning old dated vases into stylish faux clay pots is nothing new (just do a quick Google or Pinterest search).  There are many variations of this technique and each pot and vase is unique and turns out differently. I love sharing affordable DIY projects and filling my home with unique vintage finds, so it only made sense that I share my version of the DIY textured paint and baking soda technique. ...

The best sanding tips and common mistakes to avoid when sanding and refinishing wood furniture!   Lately, my days have been spent painting and sanding as I prepare for a huge vintage market. In the past, I shared how to achieve the perfect raw wood look , but I still get questions from readers asking how to sand wood furniture. Simple and Affordable Fall Patio Update

Simple and budget-friendly patio makeover just in time for fall!  This post is sponsored by Walmart Maryland has officially entered "wear a sweatshirt in the morning and regret it in the afternoon" weather.    The mornings are cool and damp, the days are hot and the evenings are dark and chilly. Figuring out what to wear takes some getting used to, but it's still hands-down the best time of year, especially when it comes to outdoor projects.   I recently gave the shed deck a makeover , which lead to staining the deck supports on the main deck, which then led to updating the back patio. ...

Amazon Home Decor and Fashion Finds

Neutral and budget-friendly Amazon home decor and fashion finds!   Happy Thursday!  I am not a fashion blogger.  Let's just get that out of the way.  The majority of the time, I'm sporting paint-covered clothes (that most likely don't match), dirty hair that's been pulled back into a low messy bun and my favorite checkered Vans .  If I'm feeling fancy, I'll actually take a shower, dry my hair and put on mascara.  Look out! I am, however, a self-employed, work-from-home mom who is drawn to neutrals, knows how to take advantage of Amazon Prime and can rock leggings and hoodies like no other.  Today, I'm sharing a few of my favorite neutral Amazon home decor and comfy fashion finds.  Everything is either something I currently own, is very similar to what I own or is in my cart.  It's all neutral, great alone or paired together AND perfect for fall!...

Budget-Friendly Modern Shed Makeover

A boring and basic shed gets a budget-friendly modern makeover!  Why in the world didn't I do this sooner?  I joked in my Instagram stories that lately, I feel like I say that after every DIY project.   Giving the shed a modern makeover that fit with the rest of the house was definitely a long overdue project and was worth the long days of power washing, sanding, staining, painting and being covered in sweat and mud. I'd be lying if I said I didn't walk outside multiple times a day just to stare at the deck.  I absolutely love the new modern look that I was able to achieve with paint, stain and affordable modern decor.  It now perfectly coordinates with the new DIY trash can screen  and other recent backyard updates . ...

I'm slooowly easing back into work after being away on vacation.  It's the first time I EVER went away and didn't crack open my laptop to work.  It was amazing and very much needed.  Taking a break from work, limiting social media and focusing on yourself does beautiful and amazing things for your soul.  I relaxed, stayed up late, slept in, ate delicious food, soaked up the sun, read and thoroughly enjoyed my time away.    Now I'm back and full of blog and project ideas, starting with a vintage modern-inspired dining room mood board!  ARTWORK / HANGING PENDANT / CURTAIN ROD / CURTAINS / DINING TABLE / SET OF THREE VASES / FAUX GREENERY STEM / GREEN VASE / MIRROR / BENTWOOD CHAIRS / BLACK BUFFET / FAUX FIDDLE PLANT  ...

Vintage Modern Basement

A small ranch-style basement decorated in a mix of vintage, industrial and modern styles. Our basement has always been overtaken with toys and was a major drop zone for old, random and leftover decor.  It was a total hodgepodge and the last place I ever wanted to clean, decorate or spend time.   Now with my kids getting older (they are eleven and thirteen!) the toys are pretty much nonexistent and I've been able to clean out and update the basement.  I've added some of my favorite vintage finds and have been slowly turning it into a space I actually enjoy.  It still needs to be functional for our family (the kids do still have some toys and I work from home), but I've been able to incorporate multifunctional pieces that are both stylish and practical....

How to Build a Simple Modern Trash Can Screen

Tired of having your trash cans in plain sight?  Try this simple and modern solution for hiding your trash can (and other ugly outdoor necessities)!  We had our two-car garage built over seven years ago, which means for seven years the corner and side of our garage have been a little bit of an eyesore.   No plants, no mulch, no landscaping......nothing.  The corner of the garage is not only where we keep our trash can (it gets too smelly to keep in the garage), but it quickly became a dumping ground for random buckets, leftover wood, old dirt bike tires, hoses and random trash. I desperately needed a solution to hide the trash can and clean up the exterior corner of the garage.  This past weekend, I FINALLY bit the bullet and built a simple and modern trash can screen. ...

Creating a beautiful and unique home with vintage finds from auctions, thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace! It's officially SUMMER! School has ended, working two days a week out of the house is ending and this mama is looking forward to finally having more time to blog and hit up more auctions. Picking and thrifting are definitely two of my favorite things to do.  I love the thrill of the hunt, exploring and discovering new places, finding unique pieces for my home and meeting and learning from people along the way.   Almost all of my favorite pieces in my home are one-of-a-kind finds found at auctions or vintage shops.  They're old, unique, a little crusty and perfect for making my house feel more like home.   ...

$200 Backyard Update: Budget-Friendly Tips to Update Your Home's Exterior

Budget-friendly backyard update and inexpensive tips to help spruce up the outside of your house for less!  This backyard project was WAY overdue! FIVE years overdue.  We included a back door when we built the garage, which led to absolutely nothing once the garage was complete and the yard was graded. I finally got fed up with the unusable entrance, rotting trim and moldy door that I set out to give the back entrance a budget-friendly makeover.  I joked on Instagram that this exterior update wasn't about perfection.  It was about updating the backyard as cheap as possible, so it was no longer an eyesore for my wonderful neighbors.  ...

I'm sloooowly transitioning from faux to real house plants.   Are you surprised?  I am. I was never one to have a green thumb and be able to keep real plants alive.  I would always start with good intentions, but end up accidentally robbing them of water and sunlight.   Over the past few years, I've learned a little, became somewhat more responsible and somehow managed to keep a few low-maintenance plants alive and healthy.    I think I've turned a corner and now I'm obsessed with filling my home with more low-maintenance plants!...

Furniture Makeover: Snow White MCM Dresser

A dated and damaged mid-century modern dresser gets a fresh update with new paint and hardware!  I haven't been blogging much, but I have been cranking out some furniture makeovers.  Recently, I picked up a little three drawer mid-century modern dresser from one of my favorite used furniture sources , Facebook Marketplace.   I loved the style and fluted drawer, but it definitely needed some work.  It was missing hardware, had some damage and a bit of loose and missing veneer.  It was nothing that couldn't be fixed though, so I headed out to pick up the dresser and got started working on it right away. ...

How to Get The Perfect Raw Wood Finish

Get the perfect raw wood finish and seal and protect furniture WITHOUT darkening the beautiful different types of wood.   Are you a natural wood/stained furniture lover or prefer the look of painted furniture ? I'm typically a "scuff up furniture and paint" kind of girl, but now and then, I get the itch to refinish  a piece of furniture to its natural wood finish.  There's nothing better than allowing the beautiful natural wood of furniture to shine.   Recently, I bought this little side table from a local auction (find my favorite used furniture sources HERE ) that was screaming for a raw wood look.  Granted, it would have been much easier and quicker to slap on a few coats of paint and call it a day, but something about this piece told me the raw wood needed to shine. ...

How to Mix Old and New in Your Home Decor

Give your home interest and personality with these simple tips for mixing old and new (vintage and modern) in your home decor!  How would you describe your decor style is a question I get asked often.  My usual answer is that I don't stick to one particular decor style and simply buy what I love.  If I had to describe my style I would say it's a little vintage, a little modern, a little industrial and a little farmhouse.  How's that for a style description?   I have never really believed in the "rule" of sticking to one style and feel the best way to create a home is to fill it with what you love.  You can mix styles and still have a beautiful and cohesive home that fits YOUR unique and individual style.  It's your home and should represent YOU.  Mixing old and new, vintage and modern is my favorite way to give my home a lived-in feel and create a place I love.  Keeping it neutral allows vintage pieces to shine while also allowing my home to feel cohesive...
