Hi, welcome to "Little House of Four."  I'm Katie and I'm so glad you stopped by.
Katie, blogger of Little house of Four

I am:

-Married to the man I used to stalk since college.  Let me explain....my husband is a friend of my brother's (thank goodness for older brother's) that I fell for as soon as we met (I actually told my mom that I was going to marry him).  It just so happens that he lived less than a mile away and every now and then I would drive by his house.  Well, one day he caught me driving by and I was so embarrassed that I blew through the stop sign!  I guess it didn't creep him out too much, since he actually did ask me to marry him and here we are eleven years later.

- A mother of 2 incredible kids.  My daughter, Paige, is ten and the most talented ten year old I know.  She is a lover of art and a gifted gymnast who amazes me every day.  My son, Owen, is seven and is a total daredevil who loves riding his dirt bike and 4-wheeler.  He does everything at full speed and definitely keeps me on my toes.   He's been rushed to the hospital due to an allergic reaction, in and out of the hospital due to a severe cornea injury (he opened a cabinet door and cut his cornea 70% through) and broke his clavicle by falling out of bed (even with a railing!) Yes, I worry about him.

- A dog lover (I guess I should say cat lover too, not to offend my little furball).  We have a 5 year old full bred Golden Retriever that was rescued by a friend and lovely given to us.  We also have a cat, Simon who is 11 and sneaks outside any chance he gets.

I Love:

- My family
-My friends
-My pets
- Decorating
-Clipping Coupons
-Shopping at thrift stores
- The Beach
-Disney World
-Being Frugal

Why I started Blogging:

For years, I've read blogs and tossed around the idea of starting one myself.  About three years ago, I finally took the plunge and "Little House of Four" was born.   My day job allows for zero creativity, so this is my space to share thrifty decorating ideas, DIY projects, organizing ideas and a bit of randomness in hopes of inspiring others.

If you're new, you can check out my Project Gallery page to get caught up on my latest projects.  Then don't forget to follow along on Facebook / Pinterest / Instagram  to keep up on the latest happenings around our little house.

  1. Hi Katie! I'm Katie from View From The Fridge and we're featuring you and all your fabulousness tomorrow, but I wanted to tell you how much we apparently have in common ... #1. Our names #2. We each have a son named Owen #3. I am a dog lover TO THE MAX and #4. We both have a dog named Molly (though ours is a Vizsla). Can't wait to learn more about you and share your projects tomorrow!!

    1. Hey Katie! Wow, we do have a lot in common! Thank you so much for featuring me and I really look forward to learning more about you and following along on your blog! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. New follower here so I thought I'd say hi! We are similar in many ways...long marriages, older daughter who loves to create, and an energetic son (but mine is almost 9 months). I worry about mine, thinking a few hospital visits will happen to us too. Looking forward to exploring your blog. :)

    1. Hey Megan! Thanks so much for stopping by to say Hi! I love that we have so much in common. I was a second child and a complete handful. My second being a boy is definitely giving me a run for my money and is like me in so many ways. So, I guess I can't complain too much :) I hope your son doesn't follow in my son's footsteps and hopefully he stays out of the hospital!

  3. A fellow successful stalker I see. Mine worked down the hall from me during grad school and I had my eye on him a year before we actually met :) I knew his truck number, timed picking up stuff off the printer, parked next to him..you know, the usual ;)

    1. So glad I'm not alone. You totally made me laugh while reading your comment! Right after my husband and I started dating he would come into my work (Home Depot) and buy tons to tools and odds and ends that he didn't even need just to see me. So, I guess I wasn't the only one in our relationship doing the stalking! Thanks so much for stopping by :)

  12. Hi Katie. I'm a Gramma and my 4 grandkids are 6 yr twin boys, 6 & 8 yr girls.
I enjoy every minute I get with them. I want to try the Pumpkin Jars; but am baffled about the Pumpkin stems (as I haven't any old Target pumpkins laying around). Can I buy pumpkin stems? Or, how do you suggest I craft them? Thank you. You are a very creative young lady.

  13. Hi! I’m so glad I found your blog (through Pinterest). I love your style! It is the perfect combination of everything I love! I saw you describe your style and now I can’t find it. I recall you used the words “industrial.” How would you describe your style?

    1. Hey Becky! I'm so glad you stumbled upon my blog and enjoy my style. It's definetely a mix of modern industrial farmhouse. I'm kind of all over the place, ha!
