A budget-friendly way to create easy DIY vintage-inspired brass bells! I'm about three weeks behind sharing December's Dollar Store DIY , but who's counting?  A late project is better than no project, right?  Last month, I updated basic dollar Tree ornaments and this month, I was inspired to create budget-friendly, vintage brass bells.  Vintage bells have been one of my favorite holiday items to hunt for, so creating a DIY version seemed like the perfect Dollar Tree project.  Christmas may be in a few days, but these DIY brass bells are perfect all winter long! ...

White and Wood Mid-Century Modern Dresser Makeover

A vintage Bassett dresser gets a two-tone makeover with white paint and black modern edge pulls.  A couple months ago, while scrolling Facebook Marketplace, I came across a nice walnut MCM Bassett dresser.  I've  refinished, altered, painted and repaired many different styles of furniture, but I'm definitely partial to mid-century modern dressers.  This particular vintage Bassett dresser was in great condition and checked off all my boxes of what I looked for when buying used furniture .   It did have a few issues that needed to be taken care of, but it was perfect for a beautiful white and wood two-tone makeover. ...

How about a little entryway Christmas tour? In the past, I've created Christmas gallery walls in our entry loaded with lots of red Christmas decor. New White Painted Mudroom Lockers

Rusty lockers get a bright white makeover for the perfect industrial mudroom addition!  I have a slight (okay, major) problem with keeping or wanting to keep a lot of the items I pick for my vintage booth.   It's probably a good thing that my house is small, but that doesn't stop me from keeping some of my favorite finds.   Most recently, I updated a set of lockers that have been sitting in my garage waiting to be painted.  I bought them to update and sell, but quickly realized they would be perfect for the mudroom .  I originally planned on moving a larger set of lockers to the mudroom, but the smaller set fit the space much better.  ...

Neutral Rustic Luxe Christmas Bedroom

Get your bedroom ready for the holidays with beautiful and affordable rustic luxe decor!  This post is sponsored by Walmart I love shopping Walmart for affordable holiday decor (see my favorite Walmart holiday decor from last year HERE ), so of course I was on board when the opportunity came along to decorate my bedroom with affordable  rustic luxe holiday decor from Walmart. .  Fortunately for us,  the majority of our family lives within a three-mile radius.  I don't tend to have many overnight guests during the holidays, but I still wanted to decorate our bedroom for any unexpected overnight visitors.  Let's be honest, I also did it for myself to enjoy.  There's nothing better than snuggling under warm flannel sheets next to a twinkling tree while watching a cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie.   ...

Clean and Modern Dining Room Progress

Simple, clean and modern dining room renovation progress! It's been a while since I've shared progress of the kitchen/first-floor renovation , but today is the day.  Today, I'm finally sharing how the modern dining room is coming along.  There's still more to be done (patching, caulking and painting), but it's looking pretty good thanks to new molding, a new modern light and cool mid-century modern chairs that I scored from an auction. I kept the furniture and decor to a minimum to help maximize the small space and new open floor plan.  It feels so much more open and the perfect clean modern vibe that I was going for.  ...

How to Make a Geometric Wood Bead Garland

An easy tutorial for creating a modern geometric wood bead garland using inexpensive square dowels. If you read the mudroom reveal post I shared the other week, then you may remember the geometric wood garland I had hanging above my DIY leather tufted bench .   Even though I knew the garland would be an easy DIY project, I paid the $20 and figured I'd use it as inspiration. Luckily,  recreating the geometric wood garland was one of those projects where the supplies ended up costing a fraction of the price of the HomeGoods garland.  I was able to use what I had on hand,  making my DIY version just under $5.00! ...

Add a touch of vintage and a bit of sparkle to inexpensive Dollar Tree ornaments. It's a new month and time for a brand new Dollar Store DIY ! Holiday Kick Off Sale at Sweet Clover Barn

Tour a vintage booth styled and decorated for the holidays! I know, today is Halloween and here I am already talking about Christmas. The thing is holiday's kick off early in the retail would, which means my booth at  Sweet Clover Barn  is already styled and decorated for the holidays. This time last year, myself and two other vendors gave the cottage at the barn a  Scandinavian inspired Christmas  makeover.  This year,  I combined my love for mid-century modern furniture and vintage decor to give my booth a modern vintage Christmas vibe. ...

Friday Favorites: 12 Stylish Canister Sets

Add style to your kitchen and storage to your pantry staples with gorgeous kitchen canisters!  I finally bit the bullet. I placed an order for the kitchen backsplash tile.  Then received an e-mail that the tile was out of stock, and my order was canceled.  Figures. Instead of searching for another tile source, I got sidetracked and browsed online for stylish kitchen canisters.  Sounds reasonable, right?   We might not have working outlets, lights, or a backsplash, BUT I will have a stylish set of decorative canisters on the kitchen counter.  Priorities.  There are many canister options available that make it nearly impossible to decide on just one set.  I'm currently loving the white canisters from West Elm and the matte black canisters from Crate and Barrel.   KITCHEN STORAGE CONTAINERS AND CANISTER SETS Help me decide!  Which kitchen canister set do you like best? Vintage Modern Mudroom Renovation Reveal

A simple mudroom gets a vintage modern makeover with custom molding and budget-friendly decor.  The other week, I shared a glimpse into our Mudroom , which was part of our kitchen and first-floor renovation that we started back in April.  It's been a loooong few months full of frustration, inconvenience and headaches, but I can honestly say, it's been worth all the trouble.   The mudroom turned out better than I could have imagined and I'm crazy excited to share the fully renovated space.  I used a lot of the same decor, but new flooring, custom wall treatment, paint and budget-friendly decor made this space cleaner and brighter for the perfect vintage-modern vibe. ...

Vintage Modern Mudroom with Simple Fall Touches

Vintage modern inspired mudroom with  simple fall touches!   This post is sponsored by Walmart Major progress has happened in the mudroom over the past few months and I'm so excited to share a peek into the new space!   I kept the mudroom light and bright and mixed styles for the perfect vintage modern vibe.  The white walls and dark doors add the right amount of contrast, while cozy decor adds the perfect amount of texture and interest for fall.  I'm normally a big fall decorator , but this year I opted to keep things simple since I'm still working on finishing up the kitchen and first-floor renovation .  A few pumpkins and new affordable decor from Walmart were all I needed to freshen up the mudroom and give it a simple fall feel. ...

An easy way to create vintage inspired specimen art for Halloween!  It should be no surprise that I LOVE Halloween!  It's the perfect holiday to get creative and make inexpensive creepy decor.  Last year, I decorated the mudroom with a bunch of affordable DIY projects and this year, I already started turning thrift store finds into creepy Halloween decor.   Most recently, I found a set of old display frames and knew right away I had to get them.  Their texture, shape and color was the perfect combination for creating creepy vintage inspired specimen art. ...

Stylish and Budget-Friendly Mid Century Modern Accent Chairs

The best stylish and budget-friendly mid century modern accent chairs! The kitchen and first-floor renovation are coming to an end, which means it's time to think about decorating, in particular, finding a pair of mid century modern accent chairs for the living room.   Removing four walls  created the open floor plan I desired, but also created a few new design challenges, mainly furniture placement.  Unfortunately, I had to let some furniture go that no longer worked with the new layout, but it's been fun hunting for pieces that better fit the style and function of the new open floor plan.   Lately, I've been on the lookout for a pair of medium size mid century modern accent chairs and wanted to share a few of my favorite budget-friendly picks.   ...

Vintage Chic Half Bathroom Updates

Updating a simple half bathroom with vintage chic decor from Walmart This post is sponsored by Walmart Our basement bathroom has been through quite a few transformations since we moved into our home 12 years ago.  Before I even started blogging, we gutted the original bathroom and moved it down a few feet to make room for a small bar area .   Then, just the other year, I gave it a modern vintage makeover with new tile, paint, fixtures and decor .   I can never leave well enough alone, so I tweaked a little of the decor to give it more of a vintage chic makeover.  With the help of  Walmart ,  I was able to achieve this look with a few simple and affordable decor pieces.   Walmart has such a wide selection of affordable decor (especially online!) and with free shipping on orders over $35, it's never been easier or more affordable to update your home.  ...

Kitchen Renovation Progress: Board and Batten Wall, Craftsman Style Columns and Railing

An open floor plan of a ranch style home with white craftsman style columns and black modern railing.  It's coming to the end of the kitchen renovation and it feels so good!   Counters and appliances have been installed and the kitchen has finally been usable for a couple weeks now.   There's still work to be done, but seeing it all come together could not be more exciting.   The latest project to be completed (well, almost complete) are the columns and railing that we added after removing the walls and opening up the stairs.  Let's take a look back at how the house looked a few months ago.  ...

Modern and Moody Coastal Bedroom

The perfect modern and moody coastal bedroom! This post is sponsored by Walmart  Ever since coming back from the beach my daughter has been all about seashells and coral.  She even traded in her arcade tickets for a white coral candle holder that she was so excited to put in her room.   I knew as soon as it was time to put her room back together that she would want to decorate with beachy and coastal decor.   If you know me, coastal and beachy aren't really terms I would use to describe my style, but I was all about giving her room a tasteful update that incorporated both coastal and moody modern elements.   Lucky for me,   Walmart has some great coastal decor options that are both affordable and perfect for achieving a stylish coastal vibe.  They also offer free shipping on orders over $35 (and FREE returns!), which is awesome for someone like me who loves shopping online.  ...

Dated Goodwill Dresser Turned Vintage Inspired Chest

An easy way to update a dated Goodwill dresser into a vintage inspired chest. How about a thrift store transformation to start off your Tuesday? I recently came across a petite three drawer dresser from Goodwill that I couldn't pass up.   It wasn't my style, but it had everything I look for when searching for used furniture and was perfect for a makeover.  I knew with a little tweaking I could easily transform it into a stylish vintage inspired chest. The size and style of the dresser was very similar to the chest I have in my entryway , which was where I pulled my inspiration.  It's amazing what a little DIY work, paint and hardware can do for a piece of furniture.  ...

Week 14 Kitchen Update: Floors, Island and Trim

Week fourteen kitchen expansion and first-floor renovation update of our little ranch style home.  If you have been following my Instagram stories then you probably know all about our crazy 4-week hardwood floor drama.  Without rehashing all the traumatic details, let's just say, the guys who refinished the floors were incompetent and failed miserably to refinish them properly.  They ended up having to correct and refinish the floors not once, not twice, but three times to get them acceptable.  It was beyond frustrating and set us back weeks on the renovation. Thankfully, the floor drama is now behind us and we are moving forward and getting so close to being able to actually use the kitchen.  The cabinets, island, sink and a lot of the trim work have been completed and the quartz countertops should be installed by the end of the week.  The house is still very much a work in progress, but having the floors finished and being able to move in furniture makes all the dif...

The Best Tips For Running a Successful Vintage Booth

Sell out, make money and have a successful vintage booth with these must-know tips and tricks! A year and a half ago, I took a huge leap of faith and quit my full-time job to focus on my blog and opening a vintage both .  I gave up a comfortable salary and a stable career to follow my heart and do what I love.  It's taken a lot of hard work and dedication, but choosing my happiness above everything else has by far been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've learned a lot over the last year and a half of having a booth and it hasn't all been easy.  Having a vintage booth is hard.  Having a SUCCESSFUL vintage booth is even harder.  There are a lot of factors that go into running a profitable booth and it takes a lot of hard work, planning, and preparation.  ...

The Best Dark Blue Paint, Decor and Inspiration

The best dark blue paint, decor and inspiration for creating a beautiful and stylish home. It's no surprise that I have a love for Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore.  It's the perfect color to add a pop of contrast against light colored walls and crisp white trim.   As much as I love using deep charcoal tones in my own home , dark blue is also a perfect option for achieving beautiful moody contrast.   Blue is a great neutral that's moody while still being cozy and calming.  It tends to be softer than charcoal or black but still offers the same classic sophistication.         ...

Before & After: Vintage Card Catalog Makeover

A vintage wood card catalog gets a fresh new makeover with stain and hairpin legs. Hairpin legs provided by Crates and Pallet .  I was not otherwise compensated for this post. As always, all opinions are my own.  Do you remember the  18 drawer vintage card catalog  that I bought and restored last August?   I loved how it turned out so much that I decided to keep it for myself instead of taking it to the shop.  Since then, I've been lucky enough to snag a few more, including a sixty drawer card catalog and a fifteen drawer one that I recently bought from a local tool auction.  It wasn't in the best of shape, but I was able to give it a much needed makeover with a little cleaning, refinishing and new hairpin legs.   The hairpin legs from Crates and Pallet were the perfect addition to raise the height making the card catalog ideal for an entryway, office or craft room. ...

Modern Industrial Motocross Boy Room Mood Board

Modern neutral motocross bedroom plans perfect for a little boy!  If you caught Friday's renovation update post then you know our house is currently empty, the floors are almost completed and I just finished painting Owen's rooms.   It's been over eight years since I painted his room and it desperately needed to be repainted.  His bed fits in a little alcove in his room, so you can imagine how dirty his walls have gotten over the years.  I'll spare you the details, but trust me when I say, his walls were pretty disgusting.   Owen has a lot of opinions about his room this time around, but I'm going to try and get away with what I can while also keeping his likes and interests in mind.   Motocross and riding his dirtbike and 4-wheeler are pretty much all that interests him, so a modern industrial motocross inspired bedroom will be perfect.            ...

Week 10 Renovation Update: Cabinets, Empty House Tour, New Paint and Floor Stain

Week ten kitchen expansion and first-floor renovation update of our little ranch style home.  Last time I shared a kitchen update , the drywall had just been hung and primed and now we have cabinets and new floors!  I knew this renovation was going to be a major one, but I never thought it would take 10 weeks to finally get the cabinets installed and floors refinished.  Yet, here we are and we still have a long way to go.  It's been challenging living through an entire first-floor renovation with kids, jobs and animals, but I've managed to make it work.  Believe it or not, not having a kitchen really hasn't been that bad.  The hardest part for me has been packing and clearing out our entire first floor.  My kids like to keep everything, so you can imagine what was shoved under their beds and in their closets that they HAD to keep.  It was a long process of sorting, donating and packing, but everything is officially out of our first floor and major progress h...

How to Repair and Replace Old Hardware Holes

Learn the easiest way to repair and replace old hardware holes to completely update an old and dated piece of furniture.  A few weeks ago, I stopped in Goodwill on my way home from an auction and stumbled upon the perfect mid-century modern Bassett dresser.  Okay, so maybe it wasn't perfect, but it was a Bassett dresser and the price was right, so I couldn't pass it up.  Unfortunately for me,  it was raining and I was driving the truck, but I'm never one to pass up a good deal.  I loaded it in the bed of the truck, wrapped it up, tied it down and hauled it home safely.    The dresser definitely needed some work, but I knew it could be transformed with little effort and by repairing and replacing the old hardware. ...

How to Achieve an Aged Look With Paint

An easy way to achieve an authentic aged look with paint!  A couple weeks ago, I picked up eighteen metal industrial file drawers from an online auction.  They were a great price and I loved that they were full of rusty patina and character.   I wasn't planning on restoring or updating them, but after being inspired by green file drawers I knew I had to paint a few green.  I didn't want just any green though, I wanted a green that had depth, looked aged and fit the industrial style of the drawers.  Lucky for me, it's super easy to get an aged look with paint and antique wax.  I did love the original rusty character of the industrial drawers, but the idea of cleaning them up and adding a pop of color had me too excited to leave well enough alone.   ...

Week Eight Kitchen Update: Drywall, Paint and Countertop Shopping

Week eight kitchen expansion and first-floor renovation update of our little ranch style home.  It's been a while since I've shared a kitchen update, but honestly, there hasn't been many drastic changes since the  week two renovation update .   Demolition, installation of the new window, framing and electrical work happened pretty quick.  Everything came to a crawl and sudden halt when it was time to move the HVAC and install the new hardwood floor.  Unfortunately, the flooring contractor strung us along for almost a month then went MIA.  It was completely frustrating, especially since it was someone both myself and my contractor knew.    Thankfully, we finally have the HVAC issues wrapped up, drywall has been installed, taped and mudded, the new triple window has been painted, the walls and ceiling primed and the new hardwood floor is getting installed as I type!    Here's how the kitchen looked a few weeks ago when it looked more like a construction z...

Let's Go Shopping: Favorite Summer Decor From Walmart

Get ready for summer with affordable and stylish decor from Walmart! Have you checked out the summer decor at Walmart ?  I'm in Walmart almost every other day picking up something the family needs and I almost always take a detour to check out their outdoor and summer decor.   I have to say, I've been blown away by their great selection of plants, pots, patio decor and entertaining accessories.  You know I like to keep my decorating affordable, hunt for deals and save where I can.  I have no problem splurging on something that I really want, but being thrifty in most areas of decorating allows me to splurge every now and then.  Walmart is definitely one of those places that helps me stay on budget and save on plants and decor.  ...

Dollar Store DIY: How to Make Hobnail Milk Glass

Create the look of authentic hobnail milk glass with simple Dollar Tree supplies!    Happy Monday!  Sorry for the unexpected radio silence last week.   After working on painting the kitchen, dealing with renovation issues  (we're on week seven if anyone else is counting) and traveling almost daily for shop inventory I was exhausted.   I just needed a short mental break, but I'm back today with my monthly Dollar Store DIY !  I've always been a fan of white Fenton Hobnail milk glass.  It's been around since the 1950's, but its raised knobs and classic appearance have definitely been gaining in popularity.  Flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores and auctions are great places to find deals on Hobnail milk glass, but if you like the look, consider making your own faux milk glass.    A couple Dollar Tree supplies and common household materials are all you need to make affordable DIY Hobnail milk glass for cheap! ...

Luckett's Spring Market 2019

Tour of a vintage market booth and vendors from one of the largest and most popular vintage markets on the East coast!  This week has been crazy!  I take that back.  The last couple of weeks have been crazy.  Besides living in a construction zone and being smack dab in the middle of a major renovation, I've also been preparing for one of the largest vintage markets of the year.  Luckett's Spring Market brings visitors and vendors from up and down the east coast for a weekend full of vintage shopping, food trucks, beer and live music.   It's one of my favorite vintage markets and it never disappoints.  I've been going to the Luckett's Spring Market for years ( Luckett's 2015 / Luckett's 2016 ), but this is the first year I've been a vendor and it was such a great experience.  I sold a ton, got to spend a fun weekend shopping and working with my Sweet Clover family and met some amazing and talented vendors.  ...
