Simple and Beautiful Black and White Summer Deck

Do you remember a few weeks ago when I shared a round up of  stylish and affordable black and white outdoor decor ?  Not only did I share a few of my favorite affordable finds, but I mentioned that this would be the year I would FINALLY make our deck a place that we actually wanted to spend time.   ...

My New and FREE Office Lockers

Most of you probably know that I've been in search of a set of lockers for quite some time.  I've actually found a few used lockers, but they were either too much money, already sold, too damaged or not exactly what I was looking for.   Time went on and I eventually put my search for lockers on the back burner, but that all changed with one simple text.  My neighbor knew I had been looking for lockers and asked my husband if I wanted a bunch of lockers that they were getting rid of at work.  Heck, YES!  (Napoleon Dynamite, anyone?) The lockers arrived a few weeks later and I could not have been happier.   I not only had my very own lockers, but I had TEN and they were absolutely FREE!  Thanks Chuck, you're the best! ...

Inspiration for a Beautiful Modern Farmhouse Bedroom

You probably think I am crazy, but I'm planning another room makeover.   No,  I'm not done the basement, the dining room or the hall bathroom, but I'm jumping into another room makeover.  It's not going to be a quick process and just like every other room in our home it will probably take me awhile to paint, order furniture and decor and pull this modern farmhouse makeover together.   Our current bedroom isn't horrible, but the rug is trashed (thanks to our cat using it as a scratch pad) our duvet cover has seen better days and the current decor is just not my style anymore.  You know I love black, white and wood tones, so I'll be incorporating all three to create a beautiful modern farmhouse bedroom.  ...

How to make an American Flag out of 2x4 Slices

I was hoping to get this project done sooner, but considering there is still a few weeks until the Fourth of July I'm considering myself ahead of the game.  I don't tend to decorate for every holiday, but there is something nostalgic and patriotic about adding a bit of Americana to your home.  A few months ago I spruced up our front porch , which made it super easy to add a Patriotic touch for Independence Day.  All it needed was a few flags and an easy DIY 2x4 American flag.  ...

How to Update a Goodwill Table Into a Card Catalog

A big thank you to The FAT Paint Company for Sponsoring today's post.  It's time for another Monthly DIY Challenge!  This month we worked with  The FAT Paint Company  to update furniture pieces with their chalk style paint.  It was the perfect opportunity to FINALLY redo the Goodwill side table that's been sitting in my garage for almost a year.  As soon as I saw this multi-drawer piece at Goodwill I knew I could easily turn it into the perfect vintage inspired card catalog.  The solid wood construction, storage and dove tail drawers was exactly what I was looking for and the $15 price tag was the icing on the cake.   ...

The Best Flooring Options for Every Style and Budget

It can be a bit overwhelming when choosing or updating flooring in your home.  It's not something that you tend to replace or change often and generally takes up a large chunk of your budget.  The good news is, updating your flooring doesn't have to be expensive.  Splurge if your budget allows, but if you're looking to cut costs there are great options for every budget.  There are pros and cons to every floor type and  I don't believe one type of floor is necessarily better than another.  Each can be stained, painted or altered to fit your unique and individual style.  You just have to decide which option better fits your needs.  ...

How to Easily Age Inexpensive Galvanized Planters

How to age galvanized Dollar Tree planters with a few simple household ingredients! Did you know you can easily age new shiny galvanized metal in just a few simple steps?  There's no need to wait for weather and time to do the job for you.  Aging metal is easier than you might think and doesn't require harsh chemicals.  Three common household ingredients and a little elbow grease are all you need to perfectly age and weather galvainzed metal, tin and other similar products. I've been wanting to try aging metal myself, so when I found a shiny metal bucket at my local Dollar Tree I knew right away it would be perfect for aging.   I'm pretty sure this metal bucket isn't galvanized, but this method of aging metal will work regardless.  ...

The New Better Homes & Gardens Spring Line at Walmart

I have never received a Better Homes & Gardens catalog in the mail before, so it was a complete surprise to find one waiting for me in the mailbox.  The cover was enough to peak my interest and I was pleasantly surprised and a bit shocked as I flipped through the pages.    Walmart's Better Homes and Gardens Line has always been my favorite of all the brands they carry and now it's even better.  I was impressed so much that I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the catalog.  Just about every style from Farmhouse to Modern is included and there is something for everyone.  Let's take a look at what I loved most.  ...
