A curated collection of original vintage dog sketches makes the perfect art gallery wall! I've slowly been making a few decor updates to our dining room and I'm excited about this latest update! Earlier this year, I planned a few changes to our dining room . I swapped the green velvet curtains for a lighter alternative and replaced the 80% wool rug with a durable easy-to-clean Harlequin Ruggale rug . Finding the perfect vintage table and light fixture has been a slower process. I have, however, finally found enough original dog pencil sketches to start my gallery wall! I scoured every online auction in the United States looking for vintage dog sketches. I was very particular with what I was looking for, requiring each piece to be a pencil sketch and original art. Many of the dog sketches I bought were signed, numbered, and dated, which was a huge bonus! TIPS FOR CREATING A VINTAGE GALLERY WALL 1. Stick to a color scheme or theme (lan......

Vintage Dining Room Mood Board
ADD CHARACTER AND INTEREST TO YOUR HOME WITH THIS VINTAGE-INSPIRED DINING ROOM MOOD BOARD! I finally removed the dining room Christmas tree and decorations the other week. It was the last room I needed to put away, and I was dragging my feet. Once the room was cleared, I was left with a blank slate and the urge to change the decor in the space. Does anyone else feel their home looks bare and empty after putting away holiday decor? Do you get the urge to change your home this time of year? Before I get to the dining room mood board details, I wanted to share a few budget-friendly tips to help you save money when redecorating and making changes to your home. BUDGET-FRIENDLY REDECORATING TIPS AND IDEAS 1. KEEP WHAT YOU CAN What do you love about the room? You can save money by keeping the current paint color(s), area rug, or large pieces of furniture. Reusing what you already have will allow you to replace what no......

Open Floor Plan: Rancher With Open Center Stairs
A renovated 1970's rancher style home with open center stairs. About two years ago, our traditional ranch-style home went from having small, dark, boxed in rooms to light, bright and completely open. I took you along for the entire process of the renovation , but never shared in depth detail and pictures of the open center stairs. There's very little inspiration on old ranchers with open center stairs, so in an effort to help others who plan similar renovations, I'm sharing a closer look at the design and layout of our open-concept center rancher stairs. ...

Mood Board: Vintage Modern Dining Room
Black, white, green and wood come together to create the perfect neutral, vintage modern-inspired dining room! I'm slooowly easing back into work after being away on vacation. It's the first time I EVER went away and didn't crack open my laptop to work. It was amazing and very much needed. Taking a break from work, limiting social media and focusing on yourself does beautiful and amazing things for your soul. I relaxed, stayed up late, slept in, ate delicious food, soaked up the sun, read and thoroughly enjoyed my time away. Now I'm back and full of blog and project ideas, starting with a vintage modern-inspired dining room mood board! ARTWORK / HANGING PENDANT / CURTAIN ROD / CURTAINS / DINING TABLE / SET OF THREE VASES / FAUX GREENERY STEM / GREEN VASE / MIRROR / BENTWOOD CHAIRS / BLACK BUFFET / FAUX FIDDLE PLANT ...

Open Floor Plan Kitchen Renovation Reveal: Before and After
Before and after bright white kitchen reveal. A small ranch style home gets a major open floor plan kitchen, mudroom and dining room makeover. Well friends, today is FINALLY the day I share all the before, during and "after" pictures of our bright white, open floor plan kitchen renovation! There are still a few minor details to complete, but considering it may be a bit until I get the custom black walnut shelves, decide on lights for above the window and order the correct microwave, I thought I'd go ahead and share the "reveal" now. ...

Bright White Modern Farmhouse Dining Room
Bright white walls and dark accents come together to create a beautiful neutral modern farmhouse dining room! Guess who finally caulked, sanded, and painted the dining room? Yup, this girl! I've lacked some serious motivation lately, but a kick in the pants gave me the drive to get things done and focus on my goals. I'm now more motivated than ever, so I busted out my caulk gun and paintbrush and finally finished the dining room. It now has the perfect neutral modern farmhouse vibe that flows with the rest of the house. I had all intentions of simply repainting the room Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige, but I was never 100% happy with how the color looked in the dining room. The natural light gave the paint a pink hue and had to go. ...

Clean and Modern Dining Room Progress
Simple, clean and modern dining room renovation progress! It's been a while since I've shared progress of the kitchen/first-floor renovation , but today is the day. Today, I'm finally sharing how the modern dining room is coming along. There's still more to be done (patching, caulking and painting), but it's looking pretty good thanks to new molding, a new modern light and cool mid-century modern chairs that I scored from an auction. I kept the furniture and decor to a minimum to help maximize the small space and new open floor plan. It feels so much more open and the perfect clean modern vibe that I was going for. ...

Week 14 Kitchen Update: Floors, Island and Trim
Week fourteen kitchen expansion and first-floor renovation update of our little ranch style home. If you have been following my Instagram stories then you probably know all about our crazy 4-week hardwood floor drama. Without rehashing all the traumatic details, let's just say, the guys who refinished the floors were incompetent and failed miserably to refinish them properly. They ended up having to correct and refinish the floors not once, not twice, but three times to get them acceptable. It was beyond frustrating and set us back weeks on the renovation. Thankfully, the floor drama is now behind us and we are moving forward and getting so close to being able to actually use the kitchen. The cabinets, island, sink and a lot of the trim work have been completed and the quartz countertops should be installed by the end of the week. The house is still very much a work in progress, but having the floors finished and being able to move in fu......

Classic Modern Farmhouse Dining Room Light
Our modern farmhouse dining room refresh is almost complete! If you have been following along with my mini makeover than you probably know that I took the room in an entirely different direction from what I had planned. The original rug I picked for the space didn't work out, so I moved it to the mudroom and bought a new rug for the dining room. That one change spiraled the room into another direction and I'm loving how everything is coming together. I still have a few minor things to add, but the final major piece was installing our beautiful Quoizel light from Lamps.com ! ...
