How to Repair and Replace Old Hardware Holes

Learn the easiest way to repair and replace old hardware holes to completely update an old and dated piece of furniture.  A few weeks ago, I stopped in Goodwill on my way home from an auction and stumbled upon the perfect mid-century modern Bassett dresser.  Okay, so maybe it wasn't perfect, but it was a Bassett dresser and the price was right, so I couldn't pass it up.  Unfortunately for me,  it was raining and I was driving the truck, but I'm never one to pass up a good deal.  I loaded it in the bed of the truck, wrapped it up, tied it down and hauled it home safely.    The dresser definitely needed some work, but I knew it could be transformed with little effort and by repairing and replacing the old hardware. ...

How to Achieve an Aged Look With Paint

An easy way to achieve an authentic aged look with paint!  A couple weeks ago, I picked up eighteen metal industrial file drawers from an online auction.  They were a great price and I loved that they were full of rusty patina and character.   I wasn't planning on restoring or updating them, but after being inspired by green file drawers I knew I had to paint a few green.  I didn't want just any green though, I wanted a green that had depth, looked aged and fit the industrial style of the drawers.  Lucky for me, it's super easy to get an aged look with paint and antique wax.  I did love the original rusty character of the industrial drawers, but the idea of cleaning them up and adding a pop of color had me too excited to leave well enough alone.   ...

Furniture Makeover: How to Repair Broken Corners on Furniture

Don't let a little damage deter you from buying a piece of furniture.  With the right product, you can easily repair chipped and broken corners, edges and gashes to make them look like new again! (I'm interrupting this months Dollar Store DIY series to share another furniture makeover.  I'll resume the regularly scheduled program next month) Do you buy furniture and other home decor items from Facebook Marketplace?  It took me awhile to get on board with buying over Facebook (mainly because going alone to the homes of strangers totally freaks me out), but I've been trying to get over my paranoia and step outside my comfort zone.  Plus, it's one of the best ways to snag deals, so you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I've been able to get some amazing pieces at great prices and other times I'm too late, sellers don't always respond or they sell it out from under you.  It can definitely be frustrating, but incredibly rewarding at the sam......

{Quick Tip} How to Easily Clean Hardened Wax Brushes

Quick and easy steps to save your dried out wax paint brushes and get them looking like new again.    Last week, was the first time in almost 3 years that I completely took a break from my day job AND blogging.  I had no posts scheduled,  no DIY projects planned and no paperwork to complete. Instead, I enjoyed the beach, sun and time with my family. With that being said, I did miss blogging, getting dirty and chatting with you all!  As soon as I walked in the door and unpacked I threw on my paint clothes and finished painting the Goodwill dresser in the basement. There's no rest for the weary in this household! Affiliate links have been used. After I was done painting and ready to apply the wax I realized my wax brush had hardened, dried out and desperately needed cleaning.   If you use chalk paint and wax to paint furniture then you know these brushes are not cheap.  I paid around $30 for mine, but it has lasted me through countless proj......
