How to Style the Perfect Entry Table

Basic tips and ideas for styling the perfect entry or console table

One of my favorite spaces in our home to decorate is the entry table.  It's the perfect place to switch up our home decor for the changing seasons and a great place to display some of my favorite decor finds.  It's also the first thing you see when you walk in our front door and I love that it sets the tone for the rest of our home.

When we started our first-floor renovation and moved most of our living room furniture to the garage I knew right away I wanted to move the entry table downstairs.  I wanted at least one space that I could decorate and keep neat in the midst of the renovation chaos and mess.

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post.

With most of our decor and furniture packed away, I decided to do a little shopping.  Lucky for me the new Drew Barrymore Home line just launched on Walmart.com.   Walmart may not be the first place you think of for home decor, but they have a huge variety of beautiful pieces to fit your style and budget.  And with free shipping on orders over $35 (no membership required!), you can't go wrong.

I've done many Walmart shopping posts in the past, so it should be no surprise that I snagged a few new decor pieces to style our basement entry table.

-TIPS FOR STYLING THE PERFECT ENTRY TABLE-

STYLING TIP ONE: ANCHOR THE TABLE WITH A MIRROR OR ARTWORK
When our entry table was upstairs I used a mirror to anchor the table.  Now that our table is in the basement I decided to switch things up a bit and added this cool black and white modern artwork.   The size is perfect and I love that I can use it in almost every room in our home.

STYLING TIP TWO: ADD HEIGHT
Lamps and tall vases (with greenery or twigs) are two of my favorite ways to add height when styling a table.  As soon as I saw this gorgeous wood and green velvet table lamp I knew it would make the perfect addition to our table.   If you don't have a lamp or vase tall enough you can always use books to add height to decor pieces.

STYLING TIP THREE: ADD GREENERY
Adding greenery instantly brightens, adds life to a space and makes a great inexpensive addition to a vignette or table decor.  I prefer real, but tend to use faux greenery in our home due to my lake of a green thumb.

STYLING TIP FOUR: ADD SOMETHING INTERESTING,  UNIQUE OR MEANINGFUL
I love mixing unique vintage decor, thrifted finds and meaningful pieces into our home.  Adding something vintage, fun and interesting to our entry table was a must and the glass horse bookends were the perfect item.   They're not only vintage, but they came from a friend, which makes them super meaningful.  Family photographs or special books are some other items you can add to your entry table to inexpensively personalize the space.

STYLING TIP FIVE: DON'T FORGET ABOUT UNDER THE TABLE
It's easy to think about decorating the top of the table, but you don't want to forget about underneath!  If your entry table doesn't have a bottom shelf then think about filling the empty space by stacking vintage suitcases or adding matching baskets or ottomans.

STYLING TIP SIX: ADD TEXTURE
I'm all about texture, so when I saw the hand woven 3 piece macrame baskets and chevron pom throw blanket I knew they would be perfect for under my table.  Not only are they great for filling the space under the table, but they add a ton of texture and a nice pop of color too.
