{Craft Fair} Painted Mason Jars and Weathered Wood Boxes

This post contains affiliate links. I'm stopping in real quick this morning to share two more crafts I created for the upcoming craft fair, painted mason jars and weathered wood boxes. There are many tutorials around blogland for both projects, so instead of giving full blown instructions I'll mainly be sharing the after pictures :) PAINTED MASON JARS Here's what I used:  -Wide Mouth Pint Sized Mason Jars -White Chalk Paint -Water Based Polycrylic -Oil Rubbed Bronze Spray Paint -Curio Knobs -Gorilla Glue -Sandpaper 1. Glue the two pieces of your lids together then spray with ORB spray paint. 2. Paint mason jars with chalk paint, sand and seal with polycrylic. 3. Glue on curio knobs. I love how they turned out and think they would be perfect for storing little craft or office supplies. Easy and Rustic Pallet Christmas Trees

Learn how to make easy rustic pallet Christmas trees.  I hope you all aren't sick of my pallet projects because I'm really excited about this next one!  I loved creating my pallet pumpkins  for the fall and thought what better way to kick off my holiday decor than with pallet Christmas trees! I started by cutting pallets into various pieces then stacked them to form the shape of Christmas trees.  Once I was happy with the shape of my trees I glued the pieces together, clamped them tight and let them dry overnight.   After the glue was dry I white washed and sanded each one then attached a large wood slice for the tree trunk.   I thought I was done, but the trees just seemed too plan and boring.   I dug through my craft supplies looking for inspiration and found the perfect little wooden stars.  I used the smallest drill bit I had to drill a small hole in the top of each tree and star and attached them with wire and glue. ......

{Friday Favorites} 10 Beautiful Mudrooms

One of the many reason's why I love my husband is that he understands my want and need for decorating and goes along with all my crazy ideas.  I may get some strange looks every once in awhile, but he pretty much gives me full reign to do whatever I want with the house.  This was proven yesterday when I sent him an e-mail about a flooring option for the mudroom. Me: (I sent him a link)  "This will cost a few hundred dollars, but it would look awesome as a temporarily fix to the mudroom floor.  It's the same stuff I used in the laundry room just darker." Him:  Not even 5 seconds later... "Ok" Me:  "That was way too easy, did you even look at the website?" Him:  "Nope, that is the way I roll." This pretty much sums up all decorating decisions around our house! The garage is almost done!

It's been awhile since I've updated you all on the garage progress, partly because the county held us up on our framing permit and partly because the last few weeks have been very stressful and a bit of a blur.   It's definitely paid off for my husband to act as general contractor, but it has been exhausting organizing inspections and contractors.  We had 4 different companies at our house during the past couple weeks and we needed to make sure one project was completed in time for the next contractor to begin their work.  I may have even had a few screaming sessions with the driveway company after they failed to show up as promised and almost forced us to push back our garage door installation.  The guy actually called my husband right after I got off the phone with him and my husband said, "You have to take that up with my wife."  I thought that was pretty funny!   In the end, it all got done, but not without a few speed bumps along the way. Easy Halloween Books

Decorating for the holidays doesn't have to cost a lot of money or take a lot of time.  With a little creativity and work you can easily make holiday decor for pennies.  This year, I decided I was going to go a little above and beyond for Halloween, but didn't want to spend a lot of money.  I recently shared my spooky halloween gallery wall  using Goodwill frames and today I'm back with another quick and inexpensive project.  I made a trip to Goodwill (surprise, surprise) in search of a few black books.  The only criteria I had was that the books be completely black and half off, lucky for me I found a two. Once I got home I shopped my overflowing containers of scrapbook paper and found the perfect spooky Halloween paper.  I just cut the scrapbook paper to fit over the original binding and used Mod Podge to glue the scrapbook paper to the book.  That's it.  It took me about 1 minute to complete two books for my entryway table. ......
