Dark and Moody Modern Farmhouse Bedroom Update

I've been slowly chipping away at our dark and moody master bedroom makeover and wanted to share a few updates.

First, I finally have the perfect pillow for our bed!  Mia from The Ivory Gull was nice enough to send me one of her gorgeous pillows and I love how it ties in beautifully with the dark wall.

Do you remember my trip to IKEA a few weeks ago?  I picked up a dark green glass vase for $2.99 and think it's the perfect addition to my nightstand.

I also cleared off the chair on my husband's side of the bed and shopped the house to pretty up the corner a bit.

I brought the mirror in from the hallway between the kid's rooms (I bought a new mirror for the basement bathroom, so that mirror will move to the hallway), made a faux leather lumber pillow with leftover fabric and draped a scarf over the chair (yes, that's a scarf that I bought on clearance from Target last year).

I love how the mirror ties in with the gold from the lamps and mimics the shape of the silhouette frames.

Hopefully, my next update will include sheets and a duvet cover.  I'm in desperate need of white sheets (hence the reason our bed pillows are not pictured, ha) and a duvet cover (our puppy ruined the new one I just bought and it's no longer available).

- Wall color: Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore
- Bed
- Leather Pillows (DIY using fabric from Joann Fabrics)
- Striped lumber pillow (Ivory Gull)
- Throw (HomeGoods)
- Rug
- Fiddle Leaf (similar)
- Sconce lights (I spray painted them gold then covered them in Gold Leaf Rub 'n Buff)
- Similar barn wood frames (mine were bought from a local vintage market)
- Round gold mirror (mine was bought from Target a few year's ago)
- Scarf over chair (similar towel/blanket)

  2. Hey Katie....love the dark wall and the scarf!
☺ So are you familiar with the color wrought iron? If so,would you say it's darker or lighter than iron ore?

  3. Hi I just wanted to say I love the way you've styled your home. I noticed in your pictures you didn't show the ceiling fixture...I'm in the middle of re-doing my master bed/bath and your room seems to be similar in size to mine. So I was just wondering do you have a ceiling fan or semi-flush mount light, I'm kind of stumped on which one to install and would love to know what you have or plan to use in your room. Thanks

    1. Hi Jessica! I currently have a black and brushed nickel ceiling fan in our bedroom, but it's no longer my style and is being replaced soon. We love having a ceiling fan, so we will be replacing it with another fan. Unfortunately, it's also the only light source in our room (from a switch), so I have to find one with a light.

  4. I thought I commented on here, but I'm not too sure anymore :)

Love the bedroom! Wondering how the nightstands and dressers are holding up?

    Thanks!

    1. Thank you! They are holding up very nicely, especially considering the price and material. We've even left cups of water sitting on them overnight and haven't had any issues with water marks.

  5. Hi Katie! Could you tell me what color the other walls are in the room? Trying to find a paint color to use with iron ore
