DIY Rolling Storage Box {Monthly DIY Challenge}

It's time for another edition of #MonthlyDIYChallenge!  I always look forward to our monthly challanges and couldn't be more excited about this months theme, organizing and storage solutions!  January tends to be month where everyone is purging and organizing, so this couldn't come at a better time. My son is Lego obsessed and received more legos for Christmas than I can count.  I admit, I thought it was great that he started getting into legos until I realized I would be the one putting most of them together and keeping them organized.  Seems that he enjoys playing with the finished trucks rather than the actual building part.  Hmm. So far, I've managed to keep all the different pieces together by placing each set in plastic bags with their insturctions.  The real challenge was storing the completed Lego trucks so that they didn't get damaged.  I can't tell you how many times my son has come to me crying to fix one of his broken trucks or fi......

42 Gallons...

That's about how much water gushed into our basement while we were sleeping.  I woke up at 5:45 Thursday morning to my husband calmly saying, "you forgot to put the hose back in the laundry tub last night and there is water everywhere."   Thank goodness he was calm because I was completely freaking out. As soon as I stepped down from the basement step my feet were soaked and my stomach dropped.   What have I done?  The water had poured right out of our washer hose and into our laundry room, office and half of our basement.  Gallons and gallons of nasty, dirty, soapy water.  I'm not gonna lie, there were moments of crying, complete frustration and a few cuss words said. Yeah, it's been a rough couple of days to say the least. Our basement quickly went from this.... (sorry for the blurry iPhone picture) to this... Large Rustic Pallet Christmas Tree

I admit, I'm a self proclaimed pallet addict.  At first my husband thought I was a little crazy with the pallets, but now he's become an enabler and supports my habit.  Hey, it could be worse. You may remember the small  pallet trees  I made a few weeks ago for a local craft fair.  They were cute and perfect for indoor decor, but I wanted to create a large tree that I could sit outside our covered mudroom entrance.   After cutting apart a pallet and nailing down a few boards to a piece of scrap wood I was left with a perfectly rustic (and free) pallet tree. It only took about 10 minutes to cut all the boards off the pallet and into pieces with 45 degree angles.   The hardest part was figuring out how I wanted to layer the pieces, thank goodness I had a cute assistant to help out.   (He said he was building a snowman incase you couldn't tell, ha) Once I was happy with how my tree looked I started nailing it together.  I grabbe......
