Holiday mudroom decorated using collected and thrifted vintage finds!
Unpacking every delicate and individually wrapped vintage treasure.
The surprise of the forgotten pieces that had been carefully packed away.
Unveiling the little winking eyes and jolly faces of Santa.
THAT is the best part of holiday decorating.
I thrift, antique, and hunt for vintage Christmas all year long. Often, I tuck pieces away for my vintage booth, but every now and then, I come across a piece I can't bring myself to sell.
From vintage brass deer and antique sleigh bells, to perfectly crazed, perfectly aged vintage Santa mugs!
This week, I stumbled upon a Facebook Marketplace listing for four vintage Santa mugs.
They were $15! FIFTEEN DOLLARS!
I could only assume that the seller thought they were ruined due to extreme paint loss and wear.
I, on the other hand, saw their beautiful aged finish and knew I had to have them.
I picked them up, brought them home, and did something that may make some of you cringe.
Yes, I stripped the remaining paint off those cute little chippy faces.
I actually prefer chipped paint on vintage Santa mugs, but these guys were too far gone for my taste.
One of them was already completely "naked", which I took as a sign to go ahead and strip the others.
I added them to the shelf above the antique dresser in the mudroom, where they beautifully complement my vintage Santa planter.
I finished the shelves off with some of my favorite thrifted brass deer, a full set of antique sleigh bells, Christmas patent art, and Norfolk Pine greenery.
Vintage Christmas is one of my favorite things to hunt and thrift for; unfortunately, it's growing harder to find good pieces in the wild.
To help you out, I shared a few vintage-inspired holiday home decor items and gathered similar vintage pieces that I used in my mudroom.
