Updated Pallet Wood Pumpkins

How to make rustic DIY pallet pumpkins perfect for fall!

Happy Monday!  I don't know if it's because the kids headed back to school today or the cooler evening temps, but I am so ready for fall.  It's probably my favorite season and I can't wait to turn off the air, sleep with the windows open and snuggle up in the evenings with a blanket.

I even went as far as pulling out the fall bins from storage this weekend.  No, I haven't started decorating, although I did get the urge to update my popular pallet pumpkins with a fresh new look.  I'm all about neutral decorating for the seasons, but I thought a muted pop of orange would be a great addition to this year's fall decor.

I started by cutting pallets apart with a circular saw then cut the pieces into random sizes to form a pumpkin shape.

Once I was happy with my shape, I glued each piece together using wood glue. I use these bar clamps to hold the wood together until the glue is dry.

My white pumpkins were painted using a white wash and I did the same for the orange one.  I simply mixed orange and yellow paint together with water to create a runny wash.

After the paint was dry, I sanded the pumpkin then finished it off with a piece of branch and gold wire.

Completing this little update is giving me such the itch to decorate our home for fall.  Our entryway table is my favorite area and I can't wait to see how it comes together this year.

Are you ready for fall?  Have you started decorating?
