We finished our basement a few years ago and ever since, it's been a challenge to decorate around this one high window. The major issue with the window is that it's not centered on the wall. Why, oh why, did the builders not center the window? No matter how I hung pictures or tried to decorate the wall, something always seemed off. That's when I got the idea to stop trying to work around the window and just embrace and incorporate it within a gallery wall. Why didn't I think of this sooner?
As always, I like to create gallery walls based on items I have around the house, my kids artwork and items that are meaningful to our family.

If you follow me on Instagram you may remember this before picture of the window frame. When I spotted it in the clearance aisle I knew it would be perfect for anchoring the gallery wall and balancing out the basement window.
I love walking down the steps and seeing this gallery wall across the room. It's still fun for the kids, but also has a more grown up feeling that I love.
Here's a before and after of how it looked not that long ago.
It kind of makes me sad that my kids are growing up and outgrowing their toddler toys and spaces. Although, it's nice to have my house back and I love the challenge of creating spaces that we both love.
