Give your home interest and personality with these simple tips for mixing old and new (vintage and modern) in your home decor! How would you describe your decor style is a question I get asked often. My usual answer is that I don't stick to one particular decor style and simply buy what I love. If I had to describe my style I would say it's a little vintage, a little modern, a little industrial and a little farmhouse. How's that for a style description? I have never really believed in the "rule" of sticking to one style and feel the best way to create a home is to fill it with what you love. You can mix styles and still have a beautiful and cohesive home that fits YOUR unique and individual style. It's your home and should represent YOU. Mixing old and new, vintage and modern is my favorite way to give my home a lived-in feel and create a place I love. Keeping it neutral allows vintage pieces to shine while also allowing m......

Distressed Vintage-Inspired Wood Drawers
Learn how to beautifully age, distress and transform new wood drawers into perfectly distressed vintage-inspired storage. Happy Monday, Friends! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I just got back from a week in Myrtle Beach and it was just what this girl needed. Lots of sunshine, amazing food, relaxation and much needed time away from work and social media. As much as I enjoyed the break, I was definitely ready to get home and back to work. As soon as the car was unpacked, I started on a dresser makeover then gave new storage drawers a cool vintage-inspired makeover. I love green and I love vintage , so I combined the two to turn new wood drawers into beautifully aged vintage-inspired storage. SUPPLIES NEEDED TO AGE NEW WOOD - Small storage drawers (I got mine free from a friend, but yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets are great secondhand sources) - Paint (I used Shackteau Interiors Milk Paint in Village Green) - Clear Wax ......

Let's Go Thrifting: Auction and Thrift Store Finds Vol 2
Creating a beautiful and unique home with vintage finds from auctions, thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace! It's officially SUMMER! School has ended, working two days a week out of the house is ending and this mama is looking forward to finally having more time to blog and hit up more auctions. Picking and thrifting are definitely two of my favorite things to do. I love the thrill of the hunt, exploring and discovering new places, finding unique pieces for my home and meeting and learning from people along the way. Antique Apothecary Jar Mantel Display
Fireplace mantel styled with 1890's antique apothecary jars. While the majority of bloggers are beginning to decorate for Christmas, I'm over here styling my fireplace mantel with my new collection of antique apothecary jars. Hunting and picking for vintage decor are fun, but there's something incredibly gratifying about stumbling upon an instant collection, especially an antique pharmaceutical bottle collection. I saw them online at a local auction and knew right away that I had to have them. Old apothecary jars are getting harder and harder to find, with large collections and LUG (label under glass) jars being almost impossible. The auction lot was for thirteen LUG apothecary bottles from the late 1890s. I was really happy to win the lot for $170, which after fees made each bottle about $15. It may seem like a lot of money, but it was a steal for these rare and super cool apothecary jars. It would have taken me YEARS and a he......

Trash to Treasure: DIY Fluted File Cabinet
Learn how to create a stylish vintage-modern DIY fluted file cabinet! Call me old school, but I still keep paper files and use a file cabinet. I've definitely cut back on the amount of paper I keep in the house, but having a file cabinet was still a must for my office. I didn't want a cheap basic file cabinet and I didn't want to spend a lot on something that better fit my style. The best budget-friendly solution was to give my current (free!) file cabinet a stylish vintage-modern fluted makeover! I literally rescued my old file cabinet from a dumpster over eight years ago. At the time, I was working as a licensed insurance agent. My old boss was remolding the building and the file cabinet had already been hauled to the dumpster before I could claim it. Spoiler. I got the file cabinet. It's been through a few makeovers over the past eight years, including being turned into a vintage-inspired faux specimen cabinet .......
