Modern Farmhouse Bedroom Update

There's no rest for the weary around our house.  As soon as we got back from vacation (we were at the beach last week!) I volunteered my husband to put together our bed while I ran to the store to restock the fridge.  For our entire married life we have never had a "real" bed,  so you can imagine my excitement when I came home from the store to our new "grown up" bed.

I searched high and low for an affordable tufted bed and ended up purchasing the Littrell upholstered platform bed from Wayfair.   Not only was it super affordable, but it also had great reviews.  A win-win in my book.

I also put together the new nightstands and dresser that I purchased from Walmart.  I was a little skeptical about the quality, but I was pleasantly surprised once I got them put together.

I hung the new bronze swing arm lights after getting the bed and nightstands in place and love how they suddenly make the space feel more put together.

The duvet is new, but I still have to purchase new bedding and pillows for the bed.  I'm also not loving the striped wall, so that will more than likely be painted the same gray as the rest of the walls (SW Wordly Gray) or an entirely new color.

If you've been watching my Instagram stories than you already know that I painted the doors Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore to match the rest of the house.  That change alone made such a huge difference and created much needed contrast in the space.

New artwork still needs to be hung and a few other accessories bought, but I'm really happy with how our modern farmhouse bedroom makeover is coming along.

  2. You should purchase cord covers @ home depot with the sticky back. Spray paint them same color as the new lamps. It will look really polished and professional, plus it's really cheap! Here is a link to ones that I used.. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Legrand-Wiremold-CordMate-Channel-White-C10/202059078

  3. Love the look of it all. That duvet is great. I've gotten pieces from Wal-Mart online lately too. A coffee table, desk and dining room chairs!

    1. Isn't Walmart great? You really can't beat the quality and prices.

  4. I have some wall-mounted pharmacy lamps (Pottery Barn) that I bought 11 years ago! Who knew? -- they'd still be so in style? Your bedroom looks great, BTW. We, too, painted our doors the darkest of dark grays (a.k.a. "black")!

  7. There is no total model for a farmhouse, yet the majority of us can remember one when we see it. By definition the firsts were situated on ranches and were basic to the life and work of those homestead families who lived there. Read More
