A vintage modern bathroom decorated in white and gray with beautiful mosaic tile and brass accents. When you feel like your home is falling apart around you the only cure is to redecorate, right? For the past 6 months, we have been living with only one of our three bathrooms fully functioning. The plumber was here last week installing new pipes and fixtures in our hall bathroom, which resulted in a big gapping hole in our master bathroom. He didn't have time to fix our basement bathroom , so I had my husband lug the sink back into the space and I decorated and pretended everything was perfect. Sounds normal, right? ...

Vintage Modern Hall Bathroom Refresh Plans
Affordable bathroom decor for the perfect vintage modern bathroom makeover! Were you starting to wonder if our basement bathroom was the only bathroom in our house? We do have two other bathrooms, but I rarely share them on the blog. They were both completely renovated about 10 years ago, but of course, my taste has changed and they're no longer my style. I'd love to renovate them again, but we're currently saving for a major kitchen/first floor renovation, which is leaving little in the budget for bathrooms. Refusing to let that stop me from creating a space I love, I'm planning an affordable vintage modern makeover for our hall bathroom! ...

One Room Challenge Week One: Black and White Bathroom Plans
If you have been reading blogs for any length of time than you may be familiar with the One Room Challenge (ORC), hosted by Calling it Home. Twice a year bloggers remodel, renovate or makeover a space in six short weeks all while documenting their progress along the way. This is my first year taking on the "challenge" and I am super excited to be renovating our tiny basement bathroom. I'll be joining a bit of vintage and modern styles to create a beautiful black and white bathroom. Are you ready to see the plans? ...

Vintage Chic Half Bathroom Updates
Updating a simple half bathroom with vintage chic decor from Walmart This post is sponsored by Walmart Our basement bathroom has been through quite a few transformations since we moved into our home 12 years ago. Before I even started blogging, we gutted the original bathroom and moved it down a few feet to make room for a small bar area . Then, just the other year, I gave it a modern vintage makeover with new tile, paint, fixtures and decor . I can never leave well enough alone, so I tweaked a little of the decor to give it more of a vintage chic makeover. With the help of Walmart , I was able to achieve this look with a few simple and affordable decor pieces. Walmart has such a wide selection of affordable decor (especially online!) and with free shipping on orders over $35, it's never been easier or more affordable to update your home. ...

Basement Progress: Completed Bar
I feel like it's been forever since I shared an update on our basement makeover. Unfortunately, it's currently still a disaster thanks to a major garage project that forced us to move everything to the basement. Thankfully, the garage is now complete and I can finally focus on getting our basement back in order. The bar had been piled with project materials, tools and odds and ends and I finally had enough. I cleared off the counter, grabbed a can of spray paint, gave the handles an update and finally decorated and finished the space. ...

Budget-Friendly Vintage Modern Hall Bathroom Refresh
Achieving a vintage modern makeover with simple budget-friendly bathroom updates. Our upstairs hall bathroom was the first room in our home to receive a major makeover when we moved in over 12 years ago. It was extremely dated with bright blue floral wallpaper, baby blue tile, a dated medicine cabinet (with broken fluorescent light) and a damaged fiberglass tub surround. We didn't waste any time completely gutting the bathroom and giving it a major makeover. I picked tile, a vanity and fixtures I loved, but over time my taste has changed and it no longer felt like me. It was a perfectly good bathroom but was no longer a space I loved. Over the years, I've made a few minor updates including new paint, decor and eventually replacing all the fixtures, but it was about time I turned our main bathroom into something that better fit the style of the rest of our home. With a tight budget in mind and a makeover plan , I made a few new purchases, sho......

Basement Makeover: Mosaic Subway Tile Backsplash
It's time for another basement makeover update! In case you missed it, the floor has been ordered, the plank wall is complete and now the mosaic subway tile backsplash is finished. Before I get to the tile I wanna back up and share the back story of this space. The previous owner of our house "finished" the basement, but it was certainly not my style or taste. The walls were covered in dark paneling, the drop ceiling was dated and the dark vinyl floor made for a cold and unwelcoming space. It was a slow process, but over time we eventually tore out the paneling and drop ceiling then moved the bathroom down about 4 feet to make room for a bar. ...

One Room Challenge Week Two: How to Remove and Reuse Trim
Hey, hey! It's been a busy week around here. We're on week two of the One Room Challenge and I'm happy to share a little update. If you're new to the ORC, it's basically a six week decorating challenge hosted by Calling it Home . Over the course of six weeks bloggers renovate and makeover a room in their home, sharing updates along the way. Let's hope I actually have this space finished by week six to share our modern vintage black and white bathroom makeover! Last week, I shared my mood board and this week I'm sharing a little update to our doors and how I removed the existing trim so I can reinstall it later. ...

One Room Challenge Week 3: Goodbye Orange Walls, Hello Gorgeous Decor
We are halfway through the One Room Challenge and I am already behind. How does 3 weeks go by so fast? I had great intentions of knocking the bathroom out in a few weeks, but with the Easter holiday and an upcoming girls weekend trip it's been sitting, abandoned for too long. I may have not made much progress on our vintage modern bathroom, BUT I did get the walls painted and had some awesome happy mail arrive that I am excited to share. ...

The Power of Paint: Dark Painted Interior French Doors
Painting your interior doors dark can instantly add contrast and style for an easy and affordable update! When it comes to home decor there's one design element I can't get enough of. From crisp white plank walls against painted dark wood furniture to dark gray doors paired with bright white trim. Contrast is one design element I love and crave in my home. The best part is, contrast can be achieved with little effort and expense. Over the past few years, I've been craving contrast in my home and have been slowly painting our interior doors my favorite charcoal gray (Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore). Almost all our upstairs entry doors have been painted and just this past weekend I finished painting the french doors in our basement. ...

High Contrast Paint Colors of My Little House
Neutral paint colors for creating beautiful contrast and flow in a small ranch home. What color did you paint your front door? What is the color of the dark accent wall in your bedroom? What color are your base kitchen cabinets? I get so many questions about the paint colors in our home that I thought I would share a big 'ole post answering all your burning questions. We live in a small 1970's ranch style home , so the ceilings are low (or average) and the rooms are small and closed off. I have found the best way to maximize flow is to keep the colors coordinating and palate neutral. I love creating contrast and interest throughout our home by adding a pop of Iron Ore to walls , doors, cabinets, and furniture . It's the best way to make our spaces feel larger without being too heavy. ...

How to Get the Modern Farmhouse (with a touch of Industrial) Look!
Easy and affordable ways to get the modern farmhouse look! I always have a hard time defining my style, but if I had to put a name on it I'd say it's a bit modern, a little farmhouse and a touch industrial. I prefer to mix styles and think it's the best way to express your individual personality and make your home unique. There's absolutely nothing wrong with mixing modern brass fixtures with vintage inspired tile or pairing thrifted furniture with shiny new pieces. What matters is that you create a home that you love and that is true to your own individual style. Our house is in no way shape or form a "farmhouse." You won't find any chippy painted furniture, burlap table runners or cow prints on the wall. It is, however, a traditional rancher that was built in 1978 that lacked some serious updating. When we moved in over 12 years ago it was still rockin' much of its original 70's charm. From ceiling fans ......

Awesome Sales and Deals on Items I Personally Own
Happy Friday! Do you have any fun plans for the holiday weekend? We're laying low, but I'm excited about spending a long holiday weekend home with the family. We have no real plans, which is my favorite way to spend a weekend. It allows for impromptu shopping trips, visits to the skatepark with the kids, project time for me and spur of the moment lunch and dinner dates with the family. Speaking of shopping, I get a lot of questions about the sources of items in my home that I thought I would share a few awesome deals currently happening on home decor. I'll be the first one to admit that a LOT of the items in my home are purchased secondhand. Either from Goodwill, thrift stores, yard sales, Facebook Marketplace, vintage markets or even hand-me-downs. With that being said, there are many times that I buy items new and with Memorial Day sales going on I thought it would be a good time to share some amazing deals o......

Five Friday Finds: Target Does it Again!
We made it to Friday!!! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments regarding my One Room Challenge plans . I have a full weekend of work ahead, but I am so excited to get started. I had a completely different post planned for today, but yesterday I spent my lunch break at Target and felt the need to share a few deals and new finds. Like always, I went in for toilet paper and lunch bags and somehow a few home decor pieces just fell into my cart. How does that ALWAYS happen? Whoever does Target's marketing is a genius! ...

10 of The Best DIY, Home Decor and Craft Projects of 2017
Now that I am officially DONE with craft and DIY projects for this year, I thought I would take a look back and share my top 10 projects of 2017. Days and months can pass by quickly and it's easy to feel like you haven't accomplished as much as you would have liked. To think you didn't work hard enough or that you should have done more. We tend to hold ourselves up to a much higher standard than what we expect of others and be harder on ourselves than what we should be. Taking time to pause and reflect on the past year is a great way to summarize just how much you have accomplished. It helps me realize that even though I may not have completed all that I planned, I did accomplish a lot and I should be proud. ...

Inspiration for a Beautiful Modern Farmhouse Bedroom
You probably think I am crazy, but I'm planning another room makeover. No, I'm not done the basement, the dining room or the hall bathroom, but I'm jumping into another room makeover. It's not going to be a quick process and just like every other room in our home it will probably take me awhile to paint, order furniture and decor and pull this modern farmhouse makeover together. Our current bedroom isn't horrible, but the rug is trashed (thanks to our cat using it as a scratch pad) our duvet cover has seen better days and the current decor is just not my style anymore. You know I love black, white and wood tones, so I'll be incorporating all three to create a beautiful modern farmhouse bedroom. ...

20 Fabulous Sliding Barn Door Ideas
Can we talk barn doors a minute? I have been obsessing over these stylish doors for quiet some time and itching to install one in my own home. Living in a small house with limited doors and wall space makes it a bit challenging to find space for one of these fabulous doors, but I think I found a solution. Ideally, I would prefer to have one of these stylish doors leading into an office, or pantry, but since we don't have a pantry and we already have french doors to our office, the basement bathroom will have to do. I've gathered a ton of inspiration over the past few months and now the only problem is deciding which style of door to install. There are so many great options from vintage and rustic to sleek and modern that deciding which style is right for our home is so incredibly hard. ...

How Are They Holding up? Smart Tile Backsplash Review
Have you ever considered adding Smart Tiles peel-and-stick backsplash in your home? Are you curious how Smart Tiles hold up over time? Get all your questions answered and find out how ours are holding up three years later! I can't believe it's been over three years since I installed our Smart Tiles peel-and-stick subway tile backsplash . At the time, I was looking for an affordable, quick, and mess-free update for our kitchen and these peel-and-stick subway tiles were just what the space needed. They're the next best thing to a real tile backsplash and perfect for a temporary budget-friendly update. They were super easy to install (I installed them myself one afternoon while my husband was at work) and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. I get a lot of questions about their durability and now is a great time to let you know how they are holding up and answer all your burning questions. ARE PEEL-A......

An Easy Way to Repurpose Old Canvas Art
Repurposing and reusing old canvases is the best way to create custom artwork for free! Add an easy wood frame, a little paint and you have the perfect modern art piece. A few weeks ago, I cleaned out my husband's office, which included going through a lot of old decor. As I was preparing bags to be packed up for Goodwill I hesitated adding a few old art canvases to the "donate" pile. I knew they would be easy to update, so I set them to the side for future projects. If you saw my Fall Home Tour on Monday than you may have already seen my new DIY artwork. I actually finished this project and took photos before I fully decorated for fall, but wasn't able to get the post written in time. Better late than never, right? I had previously purchased artwork for the spot above my new bar cart , but ended up moving it downstairs when I was finishing the vintage modern bathroom makeover . That left me with a b......
