{Back to School} M-F Clothing Tags For Easy Mornings

Are you ready for back to school?  My daughter starts first grade in a few weeks and I just finished her back to school shopping.  Where the heck did the summer go?

Up until last year, I was spoiled in the morning.  I didn't have to get myself and the kids dressed and out the door for work until 8:20.   That all changed when my daughter started Kindergarten.  Suddenly, I had to have her dressed, fed, teeth brushed, and to the bus stop by 7:50.  A half hour doesn't seem like a lot of time, but trust me it is when you're trying to get yourself and 2 kids ready.  Many mornings we were rushing and trying to agree on what my daughter was going to wear to school.

This year, I'm getting smart and in hopes of a less stressful morning I made tags for each school day.  I plan on getting her outfits together (with her input, of course) on Sunday and have everything hanging in her closet so she can easily get dressed by herself.

I traced letters onto scrapbook paper then cut them out and used Mod Podge to glue them onto each chalkboard tag.

Last year I had her specials schedule on our refrigerator, but since I recently declared our refrigerator a clutter free zone, I included her specials classes on each tag.

This project is part of an amazing back to school blog hop where 15 talented bloggers came together to share our favorite back to school ideas.  You'll find organizing tips, lunch box ideas, free printables,  and teacher's gifts, so make sure you check out all the other fun and creative ideas.

    1. Funny you say that! Many mornings I'm rushing around trying to figure out what I'm going to wear too! I guess I can't completely blame my daughter, LOL!

  2. Such a good idea!!! If I don't have stuff ready the night before we barely make it out the door on time. I love the idea of getting everything ready for the whole week, and the tags are really cute! -Amy

  4. This is a great idea, I like that there is room to add info on what is going on that day. I always can keep it straight but my husband usually cannot pick out the kids clothes because he does not know their schedule. But I could write down the info for the days and then he can get to work fighting with my daughter on what she HAS to wear.

    1. Thanks SO much, Emily! I know what you mean. I could always remember what class my daughter had, but she could never remember and would always want to wear dresses and dress shoes on gym days. It was always a battle!

    1. Ha, I thought about doing it for myself too! I am so bad about finding something to wear and change my clothes WAY too many times, LOL!

  9. These are SO cute with the little modge podged letters (I love modge podge, btw!)! I too love how you can write what is going on that day with chalk. My daughter will be wearing a uniform for the first time this year (Kindergarten) and I still think it'd be great to lay out her clothes the Sunday before... I may actually do this! Thanks!!

  10. This is such a great idea. I keep trying to figure out a way to do this for my 4 year old. We don't always get out of the house everyday, but it would be great if he wore more than his 2-3 favorite outfits on rotation. I always wonder if people think he only has 3 shirts.

    1. Thanks Nikki! People probably think the same thing about my son. He's been attached to a LONG sleeve John Deere shirt and wants to wear it everyday in the SUMMER. I've caught him many times pulling it out of the hamper, LOL!

    1. Thanks Bre! I'm crossing my fingers that getting organized on Sunday will make my mornings easier! I'll find out in 2 weeks when school starts. Isn't that dress adorable? I bought a ton of clothes the other week at the Gymboree outlet when everything was $12.99 and under!

  15. Katie,
Great idea for organization. You are also teaching your children how much smoother life is when you are prepared.
