Let's Go Thrifting: Recent Auction and Thrift Store Finds

Thrifting and picking for unique vintage decor.

Oh hey, remember me?

I've been a bad blogger.

Lately, my days have been spent picking up furniture, hunting for new thrift stores and traveling to spend hours upon hours at auctions.  I've been so busy thrifting, picking and painting furniture that I haven't had time to work on or document a single DIY project.

I'm not complaining.  Thrifting and picking are what I love, but unfortunately, it leaves little time for house projects and blogging.  I know thrifting may not interest everyone, but I love hunting for deals and wanted to share a few of my favorite thrift store and auction finds and purchases.

I've been trying to hit up as many thrift stores and auctions as I can in preparation for upcoming vintage markets.   I've been lucky enough to find a bunch of vintage brass candlesticks and a handful of gorgeous Ironstone pitchers at local thrift stores.  Can you believe people actually donate Ironstone?

Normally, Goodwill and thrift stores are my go-to sources for good quality used furniture.  Unfortunately, finding decent furniture at Goodwill has been pretty hard to come by.  I did stumble upon two Barrister bookcases though.  I could not believe someone would actually donate Barrister bookcases.  I was even more shocked to see that Goodwill was charging $300.00 a piece for them!

Auctions have also been pretty hit or miss, but I have been able to find a few cool items.

Just last week, I bought this old ladder and shared (in Instagram stories) how I cut it down then aged it with Amy Howard's Vintage Wood to create two smaller, more practical ladders.

I've bought a ton of vintage bottles lately, brass candlesticks, crocks, spools, suitcases, cameras, Christmas decor and cool vintage frames.

Vintage cameras,  phones and fans are three of my favorite items to hunt for, so you can imagine how excited I was to find so many of my favorites at recent auctions.

Last year, I bought and sold an old accordion rack with porcelain tips that I immediately regretted selling.  I've been on the hunt for another one ever since and FINALLY found one the other week.

My favorite purchase over the past few weeks is a 30 drawer apothecary cabinet.  I paid more than I wanted too, but I was not about to let it go.

I tried to get these awesome multi drawer storage drawers, but I wasn't about to spend what they were going for.  Don't the brass pulls looks incredible with the green drawers?

Thrifting and picking are definitely hit or miss, but it's all worth it when you win a bid or score an amazing deal.  What are some of your favorite recent vintage scores?

  1. Do you change (paint) or repurpose the brass candlesticks? I was told back a while ago that brass was "out."

Thanks, love your "haul" !! :)

    1. No, I do not paint or repurpose vintage brass items. I love them just the way they are and definitely don't think brass is out, unless it's from the '80's haha.
