Cute and Simple Vintage Quilt Hoop Wreaths

Thrifted, wide block vintage quilt hoops pair with gorgeous faux florals to make cute and simple wreaths.

As many times as I've been to Goodwill, craft stores, flea markets and not to mention the countless hours perusing Pinterest I can honestly say, I've never seen embroidery hoops with solid wood block closures.  It wasn't until a trip to Goodwill (and a search on Google) that I discovered that these amazing hoops exist and are actually quilt hoops.   The ones I found at Goodwill had the perfect vintage charm and I knew right away they would make beautiful wreaths. It just goes to show that you never know what you'll find (or learn) while thrifting.

You can always use regular embroidery or quilt hoops, but there's something charming and unique about old quilt hoops that are perfectly worn and aged.   The hoops I found at Goodwill were only $1.99 a piece (compared to $18.00+ for new ones), so definitely keep your eye out for them when you're thrifting.

After I found the hoops I headed to my favorite place for faux florals, Hobby Lobby.  They have the best realistic florals and greenery at super reasonable prices.  Many times they even run 50% off sales and I was lucky enough to stop in on a sale day.

I knew I wanted to keep my wreaths fairly simple with lots of greenery and minimal florals.  I snipped the stems and played around with the layout until I was happy with how things were looking.

Once I had an idea of the look I was going for, I started hot gluing a base layer of various greenery.

I added the flowers last then filled in any holes with additional greenery.  Basically, I just made sure the wreath was full enough so there weren't any visible gaps or glued stems showing.

I love the simplicity of the pink ranunculus wreath, but the white and yellow wreath is definitely my favorite.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating wreaths with quilt hoops.  Keep them neutral and seasonless or add pops of color for each changing season.  No matter what you decide, these adorable vintage-inspired wreaths make a perfect affordable home decor accent.
