{Back to School} Chalkboard Lunch Containers

I can't believe school starts in a week!  I remember this time last year I started to get completely anxious about my daughter starting kindergarten.  Now, here she is getting ready to enter 1st grade and we had so much fun going shopping for all her back to school supplies and clothes.   I've also enjoyed doing a few back to school projects to help  us get organized and prepared for school.

Last year, I would slip little notes and treats into her lunch bag, but this year I thought it would be fun to write her notes on chalkboard covered containers.

I started by picking up 2 sandwich containers from the dollar store (BPA free) and Martha Stewart chalkboard paint from the craft store.  I painted 3 coats on the lid of each container, let it dry then had fun writing.

My daughter is not a big eater and rarely eats sandwiches, she would much rather eat finger foods.  These containers are the perfect size to keep all her snacks neat and organized.

What about you, are you ready for back to school?

  1. This is such a good idea. I have those same containers for my kids, and chalk board paint! How I have not put the two together before is a mystery. But luckily you made me see the light. I will be doing this for sure :)

  2. That is SUCH a cute idea!! I love sending notes with my hubby when ever he has to take a lunch. I don't have any kids in school yet but I will remember this idea. Pinning! Thanks for sharing
