Pier 1 knock off {Burlap Bunny Ear Napkin Rings}

I normally don't post on Thursday, but since it's the first day of Spring I felt compelled to do something Spring like.  The past few days have been far from sunny skies and warm weather, but at least it's no longer Winter.  To celebrate the demise of Winter I decided to do a Spring project, which was completely inspired by Pier 1, Pinterest and my mom.  The other morning as I was dropping the kids off at my parent's house I noticed these cute little burlap bunny napkin rings she had bought from Pier 1.   I had just seen them on Pinterest and this project is nothing that hasn't been seen before, but of course I wanted to make them.

Here's my Version

and here's what you'll find at Pier 1 for $2.95 a piece

I am happy to say that I had everything laying around the house for this project and these adorable napkin rings cost me nothing.  Just another great reason to have a well stocked craft closet.

I started off by cutting a toilet paper roll into thin strips then covering them in burlap.  Once I had them wrapped, I cut a bunny ear out of scrapbook paper and used it as a template to cut the burlap.  I decided to glue two ears together to make sure the ears were stiff enough to stay upright.   The glue also helped the burlap from fraying and coming apart.

Once the ears were done drying (still wet in the picture) I used hot glue to keep the bottom of the ears pinched then glued them to the burlap covered ring.

I hope everyone has a wonderful first day of Spring!
