It was a "GREAT" weekend...

Sunday was my daughter's sixth birthday, so we took a road trip and drove almost 4 hours south to  Williamsburg, Virginia for a weekend full of fun!  Where did we go?

The Great Wolf Lodge!

Also known as "The best water park on earth"

My daughter requested the Kid Cabin Suite and her request was granted.   I loved this room for the fact that the grown-ups had their own space and the kids had their own little "cabin" complete with three beds, a table and their very own T.V.

There was also a nice corner fire place and flat screen TV.
Of course the water park was definitely the highlight of the trip!

The smiles on our kids face's made the trip worth every penny and will definitely be a birthday to remember!

We stayed at the Williamsburg, Virginia hotel and it was AMAZING!  I was very pleased with the overall cleanliness of the hotel and rooms.  The staff were extremely friendly and always said "hi" when you passed them in the hall.   Our kids are six and three and there were plenty of activities for each of them.

This was our first trip to The Great Wolf Lodge and in case any of you were thinking of taking a trip there I thought I would share a few suggestions.

Bring plenty of food and snacks

There were a few places to eat at the hotel, but all the food was very expensive, albeit good, but expensive.   Definitely bring a small cooler or insulated bag that you can take to the water park.  There are refrigerators and microwaves in each room, so it is very easy to being drinks and keep them cold in your room.   I also saw many people that had large coolers that they kept in their cars.

Bring flip flops or water shoes

This is something I completely forgot!  I ended up wearing my tennis shoes around, but it would have been much easier to slip on flip flops.  If your anything like me, then you don't want to be walking into the bathrooms and around the hotel in bare feet.

Bring a cover up

The resort is very causal and kid friendly and most people are walking around in bathing suits and flip flops.   I had board shorts and a tank tops that I threw on when I was sitting around or getting something to eat.  If you don't mind strolling around in your bathing suit than you can skip this, but I am not one that is comfortable in just a bathing suit.

Set a budget and stick to it

This hotel is smart!  Everyone gets wrist bands when you check in, but the adults are coded with your credit/debit card and room key.  This makes it extremly easy to buy whatever you want and charge it to your room.   If you're not careful, you can easily spend a lot more money than you anticipated.   I ended up carrying cash around, but my husband got a little swipe happy with his wrist band!

Get to the park early
The chairs and lockers fill up quickly, so make sure you get there early and reserve your seats.

Pay extra for the late checkout
The extra charge for the 2:00pm checkout was worth every penny.  You can stay in the park until close on the day of checkout, but this allowed us to play in the park, get showers and have lunch in our room before packing up and checking out.

I hope you all found this helpful.  I would love to hear your experience if you've stayed at The Great Wolf!
