{DIY} Envelope Pillow for Less...

I just realized that I haven't shared the envelope pillows that I made for our living room sofa.  I wrote the post a few months ago and it got lost in the "drafts."  If you follow me on Facebook or have been following along on the blog, you have already seen the pillows that I am talking about.

I have always loved the charcoal and cream quatrefoil pillows, but was not about to spend the money for them.  The only place I could find them was Etsy and they were upwards of $40.00 a pillow cover.  Not exactly what I wanted to spend.  Pillows are something that I like to change out often, so spending a lot of money on them is just not an option.  I scoured the web looking for the quatrefoil fabric and even checked Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby with no luck.

Fast forward a few months...

Look what I spotted at HOMEGOODS!!!  It's the exact same fabric that I have been searching for.

Guess how much?? Go ahead, guess...

$14.99!!!  Total score!

It's a shower curtain, so for $14.99 I got plenty of fabric for two pillows.

I already had (2) 20"x20" feather pillow inserts, so I planned on making (2) 20" x 20" pillow covers.

I cut one 20"x20" piece of fabric that will go on the front of the pillow (I like my pillows full, so I didn't give extra room for seam allowance) and two 20" x 15" pieces of fabric for the envelope side.

Here's the back so you can see how the "envelope" part matches up.

(This picture was taken before I painted the side tables with chalk paint)

Since I already had the feather pillow inserts I was able to make two pillows for $15.00 and still have fabric left over.  I would have been really unhappy if I splurged on these and then later found the fabric.  It definitely pays to be patient (something that I am definitely not).
