Trash to Treasure...

I am always keeping my eye open for new projects and things to update.   I have no problem going to thrift shops, flea markets, Goodwill, antique shops, yard sales or in this case the office looking for hidden treasures.   While at work the other day I came upon some old stackable trays that had been stored in the basement.   As soon as I saw them I got excited and wanted to give them an update.   Of course my boss let me take them home, as he is more of the "throw it away" type and I am more of the "I can do something with that" type.

These trays were old and definitely looked like they were from the 70's or 80's.    I didn't even dust them off before taking pictures.

Luckily, the wood grain on the side of each tray was vinyl, which made it easy to peel off and use as a template.

Once I got the four new pieces cut out I used mod podge to glue them onto the trays.

Simple and Free.  That's my kind of project!

  1. This is too cute! Simple, yet makes a huge difference. I bet a lot of people pass those trays up at the thrift store because they look outdated. Thanks to Mod Podge or fancy vinyl, one can easily make them pretty. :)
