One Room Challenge Week 3: Goodbye Orange Walls, Hello Gorgeous Decor

We are halfway through the One Room Challenge and I am already behind.  How does 3 weeks go by so fast?  I had great intentions of knocking the bathroom out in a few weeks, but with the Easter holiday and an upcoming girls weekend trip it's been sitting, abandoned for too long.

I may have not made much progress on our vintage modern bathroom, BUT I did get the walls painted and had some awesome happy mail arrive that I am excited to share.

Let's talk about the walls before I get to the happy mail.  (This isn't the final wall color, but I wanted to get a coat of paint on the walls before I settled on a color.)  Some of you may be disappointed that I have decided against adding a wall treatment to our bathroom.  Why?  For one, the bathroom is TINY and I'm afraid adding any type of molding/shiplap/planks to the walls will make the room feel closed in.  The other reason is that I am adding board and batten down the steps as well as along the outside wall of the bathroom and I don't want it to be overkill.  I already have a plank wall in the basement and I think it will just be too much.  I know this may disappoint a few, but I'm confident the room is still going to turn out amazing!

Now, let's talk about the happy mail!

The artwork from Schoolhouse Electric arrived and I love, love, LOVE it!
work hard and be nice to people artwork
You might find it strange to have a "Work Hard and Be Nice to People" sign in the bathroom, but since my husband has always called this bathroom his "office" it fits.   Plus, it's one of my favorite quotes and since it's my house I'm putting it in the bathroom :)

Speaking of the bathroom/office/man cave or whatever you call it I'm sure you'll find this article humorous.  You're welcome.

Can we talk about this gorgeous tile for a minute?  I mean seriously, it's Ah-mazing!!! I haven't laid it yet, but I couldn't help throwing down a couple tiles to see how it would look.

My husband still hates the tile, but I'm convinced when he sees the bathroom complete that he'll finally admit that I was right in deciding we needed to have it in our house.

The brass double wall sconce also arrived from Schoolhouse Electric and it's everything I imagined it to be.

Can you finally see things coming together???

Vintage modern black and white bathroom

This room is undoubtedly going to be my favorite.  I'm hoping it's the perfect black and white combination of vintage and modern and I can't wait to share the completed space!

Are you playing catch up?

  12. Love the tile and the light fixture. On the schoolhouse electric website the light fixture glass doesn't look clear. Did you order thru the site?

    1. Yes, I ordered through their site. The fixture, globes and bulbs are all seperate so you can mix and match. I hope that helps :)
