Mini Dining Room Makeover Plans: Choosing a Light!

Have I ever told you that I get bored easily?  It's so hard for me to focus on one aspect of our home and complete a project from start to finish without working on 10 other projects and spaces at the same time.  Can you relate?  I truly believe that a well thought out and decorated space doesn't happen overnight.  It takes time to plan and decorate, especially if you are waiting for good deals to limit breaking your budget.

So, while I'm still finishing up the basement (I'm almost done!) I'm also planning a quick mini dining room update.  Nothing too crazy will be going on in this space.  Just a few new pieces to turn this room into a space that is more my style.   I'll be keeping the furniture, the paint is staying (Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige) and my favorite zig-zag curtains will hopefully remain.  The rest is up for grabs and I can't wait to see how everything comes together!

I have just about everything planned out EXCEPT I can't decide on the perfect light!  Have I also told you that I'm extremely indecisive?  I've narrowed the search down to 4 different lights and I'm hoping you all can help me decide.  Help me please!  .

All the lights I chose are round to break up all the hard lines of the table, vintage server and rug. Let's take a look at the four options!

You know I LOVE a good mix of materials, so I'm partial to the wood and metal lights, although the other two are pulling at my heart too.  Each are unique in their own way and I don't think I could go wrong with either.  The problem is deciding exactly which one I like best.

Here is where I need your help.  Do you mind commenting which light is your favorite?

  1. #2 Will still be in style years to come. #1 and #4 have a Spanish vibe. #3 is very trendy and will be out of style soon.

  2. I think my fav is #2, however, I'm not sure the curves really work with the geometric lines of the chevron and other patterns. #3 is my least fav as I think it's too busy for the room. #1 and #4 are both contenders and will work nicely. Maybe #1 is my preferred for this space. It's pretty hard to choose! Good luck!

  3. I love all of them!
#1: prob the perfect one (mixed materials & fits the space/decor)
#2: nice but not right for the decor
#3: really like it, but too busy with the other patterns
#4: on par with number one, but mixed material will win every time

    So #1 for me!

  4. One thing I like to think about is how the light is actually going to reflect out of the fixture. #2 will beautifully light the entire space, while #3 will have some shading from the wood shade. Also, his big is the space and how tall are the ceilings? I think #1 and #3 would require some tall ceilings. My vote is for #2 or #4! :)

  7. I like #1 the best, and now to contemplate buying it for myself! Does it require tall ceilings?

  8. I like #4 because it is the only one that looks like it might have existed in a real farmhouse due to the Edison bulbs.

  9. I like number 3. I like that it mixes contemporary and traditional.

  10. Oops, I wrote the wrong number! I meant #1, the mixed material one!

  11. Oooh, I love the mixed materials of #1! But they are all super gorgeous. Can't go wrong with any of them!

  12. #2 is my favorite. Classic and airy. #3 with it's lines makes the room busy with all the other lines going on. #1 seems heavy in the space, esp. w/the table. #4 is nice but trendy and wonder how light will be thrown (those are some BIG light bulbs. lol). But if the price is good, maybe #4 for something other than classic #2? You have cool taste, btw. :-)

  14. Like #2 - the design is timeless, and it is not overpowering.
