There's no hard and fast rule that says dining chairs have to match. I personally like a more eclectic look, which makes decorating super easy for this thrift store loving girl. All you have to do is head to your local second hand shop or yard sale and pick up a few random and inexpensive chairs. Add a bit of paint or stain and you instantly have a more random, yet intentional look.

If you're hesitant about mixing up your dining chairs try replacing just the captains chairs. It's a great way to update your space without going over budget. Target, HomeGoods and IKEA are a few of my favorite stores that typically sell inexpensive captains chairs. (These are the ones that I recently purchased from IKEA)
If upholstered chairs isn't your thing you can go a more simple route and pair white end chairs with antique wood chairs.
You can also ease into the look by painting different chairs in the same color to create a random, yet cohesive look. This is probably the easiest and most budget friendly idea.
You can take it one step further and paint chairs in a neutral palate and still get a uniform look.
Are you feeling brave? How about adding a splash of color to the mix? I'm loving these green chairs in the dining room, especially paired with gray. All the chairs are different, but keeping within the same color family makes it work.
Pairing wood tones with painted furniture is probably my favorite look. I especially love the idea of pairing a wood bench opposite colored chairs.
If you want an even edgier look you can go completely random and still make it work.
Mixing and matching your dining chairs is a great way to showcase your style without breaking the budget. Have fun and don't overthink the process. More than likely it will all come together and look amazing!
Have a wonderful weekend!
