{Monthly DIY Challenge} $3.00 Wood Box

13 DIY Painted Projects

Welcome back to another Monthly DIY Challenge!   In case you're new to our challenges, the second Wednesday of every month a few of my bloggy friends and I get together and share a project based on a particular theme or material.  We've used all sorts of materials in the past, but this month was all about paint.

An unfinished wood box gets a major makeover.

To be honest, I've been so busy working on the mudroom and painting our dining room that I almost forgot about this months challenge.   I quickly ran out to Michaels in search of something to paint and found this cute little unfinished recipe box.  (40% off coupon made it only $3.00!)  As soon as I saw the box I knew it would make the perfect addition to my craft closet.

Here's What You'll Need:

-Minwax stain ( I used Jacobean)
- Green acrylic paint
- Arrow Stencil
- Metal label pull

I started by staining the box using Minwax Jacobean stain then for a fun surprise I painted the inside using Kelly green and gold Rub 'n Buff.

The box still needed a little something, so I added a row of stenciled arrows using liquid chalk paint and a brass metal label pull.

It's great for storing my craft and Washi tape and the perfect little addition to my craft closet.
