Mudroom planning and a couple HomeGoods purchases

Even though the completion of the mudroom is a little ways off, I've been having so much fun designing the space.  Yesterday, I shared a picture on Instagram of a few items that I picked up from HomeGoods.   I have no idea if they'll actually work in the space, but they were too good to pass up.
With two small kids a mudroom is like a dream come true.  The room will be unfinished for a while, but that doesn't stop me from planning and designing this space.  I'm thinking of even doing an unfinished "finished" mudroom until were able to save enough money to actually finish the space.

The door is a smooth finish fiberglass Jeld-wen door.  I don't think this particular one is fire rated, but I'm hoping to find a similar one that is.   You may notice it's the same door that I just purchased for the front of our house.

I plan on doing some sort of built-ins similar to what Erin did at The Sunny Side Up.  She just finished her mudroom and it's amazing!

I already purchased the Blocks Navy rug from Rugs USA when it was 60% off!  While the mudroom is unfinished I still wanted something to put down on the bare plywood.

I'm still debating whether or not to run the hardwoods into the mudroom or do a gray plank tile like these, straight off the shelf tiles from Lowes.

The Starburst mirror and white diamond pillow are from Target, but sadly the pillows are no longer available.  Whaaaaat!   The other diamond fabric is from Lewis and Sheron Textiles and is a little pricey at $26.25 a yard, but used as an accent fabric isn't too bad.

The hooks and knobs can be found (herehere and here)

The basket is the striped storage bin, also from Target.  Although, since I found the white wire basket from HomeGoods I think I'll just use that one instead.  I was thinking of using it to hold towels since our dog will be going in and out of this room or to control shoe clutter.

Our garage addition is moving slower than I'd ever imagine.  As of right now, we're on hold until we get the additional footings cleared up with the county.  We're in the process of talking to an engineer to see what our options are instead of tearing up part of our newly paved driveway and more existing concrete.  We thought this whole process would be much smoother since we already had an existing structure.  I'm sadly learning that is not true.  County codes are completely different than they were 30 years ago and they demand so much more.   All I have to say is, this thing better be done before it starts snowing.  This momma is not parking outside in the snow!

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. We just used that tile from Lowes in our bathroom! I haven't done a full reveal of the bath yet but here is the tile in the background of this post: http://craftivitydesigns.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-simple-modern-bath-stool.html and some photos right after we installed it here in this post: http://craftivitydesigns.blogspot.com/2014/04/bathroom-renovation-tile.html (however, the color is not very accurate in some of those photos). We love, love, love it! Good luck as you decide what to do :) Love the mood board & can't wait to see more!
