Cheap West Elm inspired curtains...

Cheap and West Elm are definitely two words that don't belong in the same sentence.  I have a love hate relationship with West Elm.  I love the style and quality of their products, but I hate their prices.  Seriously, $44 for a pillow cover, $89 for one window panel, Really?  I normally get their catalog and flip through the pages looking for inspiration and hoping I'll spot something similar in HomeGoods or some other store.  One of those items I hoped to find was the Ikat Ogee Linen panels.  I wanted them for the living room ever since seeing them online.

The problem?  I would need 4 panels at $89.00 a piece!  You can do the math.  I am a little too frugal to be spending that kind of money on curtain panels.

Well....guess what I spotted at Tuesday Morning?

I got two sets of panels for $40.00!  That's less than it costs for one panel off the West Elm website. Now, I'm sure these are not the exact same curtains and the material may be different, but as far as I'm concerned.....they are the same thing.

Here's the room before:

The only problem was that the curtains were 84 inches and I really wanted 96 inches.  I moved my curtain rod down a few inches to accommodate the shorter panels, but they were still too short. Dang it!

I ended up taking all four panels down, ripping out the seams and lengthening them about an inch.

They are still a little too short for my liking, but since I saved a ridiculous amount of money on them I figure I can deal with the shorter length.

Those that are super observant will notice that the knobs are also different on the drawers.  I got a little carried away with spray paint the other day.

My living room definitely needed this little update!

  1. Where did you find a curtain rod that long without a center support?
